.
Hi ,
In Canada we are enjoying a long weekend and the Thanksgiving tradition.
Being in the 'north' we celebrate a little earlier than the USA.
Thanksgiving has prompted me to count my blessings - and oh so many as when I look around the world I have so much to be grateful for.
Gratitude for the simple things that so many do not have - safety, a warm bed, a full tummy, and loved ones to commune with.
With every reason to be grateful it became more clear.
When I am grateful ... my psyche interprets all is well in my world, nothing is wanting - in that moment.
In the moment inner peace to experienced.
We know that the more the brain practises certain neural pathways they are strengthened and thus the pathway of gratitude is a pathway for inner peace.
We know that a gratitude practise is helpful for a mindful life and here is a truth - gratitude invokes inner peace.
So if we want to strengthen our inner peace neural pathways - we can practise gratitude. It's a fascinating process to challenge yourself to stop and be grateful everyday, even several times a day - let yourself remember the many aspects of our lives for which we can be grateful. What is going well.
Sharing a discovery for more inner peace more often - thanks for listening:)
Another big benefit is that with a strengthened inner peace muscle we can fill our own 'cup' and share our inner peace with our people.
Just like laughter and a yawn - inner peace is contagious - and if ever we needed more peace - these days call for it.
What are you grateful for?
Can you think of 5 or 10 reasons to be grateful in your life?
Each one is another moment of inner peace:)
To add to your weekly inner peace - come join me for a Somatic Stretch® class. We work with our inner body awareness to ease out tension, breathe for more space and relax into a deeper stretch.
Come join me on Zoom on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:30pm PDT
It's free or by donation.
Here's a link to register for class.
Meanwhile I am very grateful for the opportunity to share these ideas with you - simple soulful solutions for inner peace.
May it be of benefit.
In gratitude,
Wendy

Desiderata
This is the original text from the book where Desiderata was first published.
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
