Hi ,
A recent conversation invoked the 'why' of life.
With all the events right now yes we ask this - from a deeper place of our humanity, our soul - it is mind boggling.
Yet we are challenged as to what can we do.
Well it is known from ancient wisdom that we can only really talk care of and promote change within ourselves.
We can't change others and notably we cannot change what is going on this world directly. Perhaps through offering resources and support for those in need it is the best we can do.
And ... we can pay attention and notice our feelings to get us closer to clarity for our personal why. So if this it - we can begin to bring our 'why' into our world.
Reflecting on our own why is so valuable, to get to know ourselves deeply.
To know our own 'why' is to know our own truth.
When we notice our feelings it is often (and some say always) that what we are experiencing indicates our experience is closer or further away from our own truth.
If its inner conflict we are experiencing we are further away from our truth.
Our feelings really are an indicator to bring us closer to our own truth and well being.
I know when I am engaged in something I am excited about, or joyful about or even satisfied I know my experience is more aligned with my souls calling.
Alternatively when I encounter inner conflict I am further away and receiving evidence of changes that are needed to bring us closer to inner our inner peace and our 'why'.
SO notice the inner conflict - what is underlying? - what could be changed? to bring us closer to our souls calling.
May you pay close attention to how you are feeling - it is an amazing journey.
And when you are experiencing joy and inner peace, savour and notice what lights you up about this situation... and almost always may you do more of that:) It will lead you to your why.
It not a straight path or a quick answer. It is a practise and a devotion to our own inner peace and alignment to our truth.
The more we can be at peace the more we can share this feeling with our outer world - just by being in that state! Just like laughter and yawns our feelings are felt by others and give a calming vibe.
This is our antidote and the journey of attending to our feeings provides incredible clues to our own 'why'.
May you come to know your 'why' clearly and align with your inner peace and positive feelings more often.
It definitely assuages your inner being and protects from the sometimes 'raging' external environment.
Yes it sad and beyond comprehension and we must feel that too, allowing it to flow through us. Thank goodness feelings can change.
And we can understand through attentiveness to our own being, how to bring more peace into our world and understand our own why.
May this note be of benefit.

Desiderata
This is the original text from the book where Desiderata was first published.
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
