Mission Statement:
Kingdom Builders ministry exists to serve homeowners in the greater Oneonta area by providing quality labor to address construction needs that they are unable to accomplish by their own means. Although the practical focus is on construction, the spiritual focus is on building relationships with those served, with the end goal of demonstrating the love of Christ through ministry.
Co-laborers of God’s Harvest Work
MARCH 2024
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:37-38 NIV
This is Miguel. He is 44. He came to the US in 1995.
He was able to work in construction for many years until 8 years ago he got an infection which resulted in Pulmonary Fibrosis. He now is faced with needing a double lung transplant. His 3-year-old daughters mother passed away last year. He is now married, and his wife is tirelessly taking care of him. They are unable to care for his 3-year-old and she is now being put up for adoption. A pain that he must live daily with, along with his dire medical needs. He did well enough for his family to be able to buy a house, which is finished off in the upstairs and has suitable conditions to live including a kitchen, bathroom bedrooms and common room. His brother at some point agreed to remodel his downstairs. For reasons we are not real clear on, his brother tore it all apart and could not put it back together, leaving it very unsafe. So, through channels Miguel heard about Kingdom Builders and applied. After hearing his story and seeing the problem, we agreed that we should take this on and make it safe for him and his family. It was a lot of work for one person to take on. So, members of our board got together with me, and we tackled this.
Two hard working days later we were able to get it to a point where it was no longer unsafe to him and his family. Does it need more work? Absolutely, but at this point it is safe and they can continue to live in their home securely.
We were able to pray with Miguel and his family on a couple of occasions. I don't know where they stand in their relationship with the Lord, but I know they are truly grateful for what KBCNY was able to do for them. I am blessed to be able to have met Miguel. He is a very gentle spirited man. He spoke with me about his situation and how he doesn't fear so much of his death but instead of how it will impact his family. I prayed over him that day. I could see in his eyes the appreciation and gratefulness. This really spoke to me how the harvest IS plentiful and, although the workers may be few, God is working in a mighty way.
As we ask of the Lord of the harvest, I know He hears and honors our requests. I hope that our time serving him, and his family will bring him to a relationship with Jesus. Miguel remains on my heart, and I suspect this is not that last time I will see him. Who knows what God will do? Praise Him!!
Andy
Praises:
Gods desire is for each and every person to know His son as their Lord and Savior.
In His wisdom, God has placed us where we are in our life for a reason.
We can witness the Holy Spirits power to call people to Himself.
Prayers:
Miguel and his family will come to believe and trust in the Lord and through their relationship with him see his divine orchestration over their lives and his unending compassion.
There is always someone who needs Jesus – if we’re willing to look around for even a minute, that we will see the plentiful harvest
That more Christians actively share the gospel.
Model our Jesus - we will see what He saw, feel what He felt, and do what He did
