Mission Statement:image

Kingdom Builders ministry exists to serve homeowners in the greater Oneonta area by providing quality labor to address construction needs that they are unable to accomplish by their own means. Although the practical focus is on construction, the spiritual focus is on building relationships with those served, with the end goal of demonstrating the love of Christ through ministry.

OCTOBER 2024

Good God Gifts

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

1 Peter 4:10 NIV

This verse touched me this past month. We had a project tearing out an old, deteriorated basement stair entrance. Digging it out was more than I could handle but God had a gracious individual in our community all lined up. Erwin Smith used his gifts and equipment and donated himself to this task. He came in with his backhoe, dug it all out and hauled the spoils away. He then graciously donated several loads of gravel and topsoil to backfill with. This was a great example of Christ and unity in the community. We are very thankful for Erwin's generosity and willingness serve in this way. With the help of 2 board members, Bill Rogers and Larry Mattice, we were able to pour the necessary concrete and get the new precast stairs set in place by Butts Concrete of Masonville. It's awesome when various people in our community work together to achieve a task. Great use of God's gifts. And a great display of unity in our community.

Praise God!

Kingdom Builders has quite a list of people in need in the days and months to come. We are excited to get moving on these projects. Our funds currently are getting spread thin as the list grows long. We ask that you please pray for God to continue to provide and perhaps ask God to use you as a monthly donor. Prayer is key and God will provide.

Thank you all for your support

Andy

“For every house it built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.” Hebrews 3:4

Message from the Board

Waiting can be hard.

Most of us would prefer quick, efficient, and, when possible, instant results and answers. But waiting is a part of life. We must wait for seeds to grow into food, for one season to fade into the next, for babies to mature into adults, and for trees to stand tall enough to finally offer shade. Like it or not, waiting takes patience. This is true for those who ask Kingdom Builders for help maintaining their homes and for the ministry as we seek God’s wisdom and resources in meeting those requests.

For many of us we can wait days, months, years, or even decades for a prayer to be answered, for an overdue apology, for the timing to be right, or for a dream to finally come to pass.  Waiting requires courage and patience. King David lived nearly 3,000 years ago, but he knew what it meant to wait for God’s timing, to wait to be king, to wait to be rescued from his enemies. He wrote: “Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” Psalms 27:14.

If David thought waiting on God was important enough to write it twice in one verse, we should probably pay attention. But waiting patiently for the Lord isn’t an excuse to do nothing. We can proactively wait on God by staying in communication with Him, by looking for His fingerprints in ordinary moments, by reading about His Story and His plans in His Word, by worshiping Him no matter what’s happening across the globe or in our individual lives. We wait with patience while serving the people both inside and outside of our circles; by thanking Him for the gifts He’s already given us and for the work God has already allowed to us perform for his honor and glory.

Just because a specific door isn’t opening, or a particular opportunity isn’t available at this moment doesn’t mean that God isn’t moving. Even when we are waiting, God is working. Noah spent decades building an ark as he waited for God to do what He’d said. Ruth journeyed with her mother-in-law and worked in the grain fields while trusting in God’s provision after her husband’s death. Joseph stayed faithful in prison for several years before his promotion to second-in-command of Egypt. John trusted God’s ultimate will for his life and wrote several books of the New Testament while sentenced to exile on the island of Patmos.

So, no matter what you’re facing, you can ask God for patience and trust that He is in control of your future. No matter what uncertainty lies before you, when you rely on the Lord, you can be someone who waits well.

Continue to keep Kingdom Builders of CNY in your prayers since we too are waiting on the Lord for an answered prayer. We seek guidance in our decisions concerning ministry needs and opportunities; safety for those who volunteer to help and for Andy as they perform the work together. Prayer for those we minister to; that they would both hear and see God’s love as we serve them. While our desire is to expand the ministry throughout the greater Oneonta area the limiting factor is, as with most small ministries, the resources God has made available.

Praises:

Let us celebrate the good news that God has given each of us a gift, spiritual gift, that is rooted in His grace.

Praise God for the gifts he lavishes on us!

Every good thing we have is ours only by God’s grace and intended to be used for His purpose.

Prayers:

Let us resolve to use the gifts we have received to serve others.

Let us be faithful regarding stewardship of our gifts so that God’s manifold grace will be made known to the world through us.

That we show hospitality without complaint.
