Mission Statement:
Kingdom Builders ministry exists to serve homeowners in the greater Oneonta area by providing quality labor to address construction needs that they are unable to accomplish by their own means. Although the practical focus is on construction, the spiritual focus is on building relationships with those served, with the end goal of demonstrating the love of Christ through ministry.
Sharpening our communities and relationships
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another" Proverbs 27:17
The idea of community comes from the sense of responsibility we have for each other. In the Bible, God encourages us to take care of our brothers and sisters, whether friends or enemies! We must remember how important it is to have a connection with each other and focusing on building a community of love in word and actions.
This month I was able to get together with a dear friend and supporter of the ministry, Wayne Wright, for his 75th birthday
We shared breakfast together with other friends, some of which are board members. The verse in Proverbs came to mind as I think of Wayne. He is an encourager and a man of great faith who sharpens others with his wisdom. He appreciates relationships and community with one another. Hence the reason he is one of our supporters. He believes in what Kingdom Builders stands for and how we serve others. Kingdom Builders appreciates how Wayne emulates Christ in all he does.
Last month you may remember our project for a single mom needing help. We were not able to get all our photos up of the work we did so here is some photos of the flooring we had to replace.
And us living out what Christ calls us to do- connecting and forming relationships to further the Gospel.
Our next project will be replacing an old tub with a shower unit. This will be done for an older woman that needs easier access in and out because of arthritis.
We are busy and are thankful. Thankful to God for all his provisions, thankful for the projects that keep coming in and thankful for you as you pray and support us. My hope is for us to be that iron that sharpens other irons.
May God Bless you all,
Andy
Meet the Board
Walking the paths of this world can often be an anxious journey with unexpected pitfalls at every turn. The well-trod path is inhabited with those “lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my!” both in the literal sense and the figurative. It is a path teeming with the desires, activities, and people whose only purpose is to keep us from forever with our Lord and Savior. The path less traveled is with the truth, faith in the direction, and hope in the final destination. It is a blessing given to us by our Father, that when accepted, we walk hand in hand with his son Jesus Christ, who was sent to us, specifically for that purpose. “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”-Matthew 7 13-14, NIV
These thoughts come to me often during times of reminiscing and looking behind at the footsteps along the way. Far back they seem straighter, lighter, almost effortless. Then closer behind one can see plodding, staggering, aimless marks. Those prints wander from the brighter, less stony trail, at times appearing to parallel, or try to join the others but then sharply diverting in other directions. Those marks at times are so far from the others, almost unseen, except for the drag like trail they leave in their wake. Picture a wounded animal with a broken leg, trying to get somewhere safe. They don’t really know where they want to go or even care where they end up, as long as it is not where they are. Then as the walk continues, the neck straightens and eyes turn closer to real time the footprints again are straighter, lighter, almost like dance steps. Suddenly there are two sets of footprints along the path. They are close together like soulmates sharing a walk arm in arm, hand in hand. One can see the lilt in the gait as if there was singing and praising. The walk continues. Looking forward there is only one path and one set of prints, but they beckon, saying “follow me”. Those footpaths pull gently, guiding along with safe assurance. The traveler’s heart and soul come to full realization that this is the Way in which he will continue, glowing in the distance is an unearthly beauty. The person on that path need never question the direction again. Nor do they worry about the distractions and lures off to either side. They needn’t worry about how long it takes to get to that beautiful shore. They are safe, bold with their steps, faithful, certain, and unwavering, in belief.
Many, if not most, of us have traveled similar roads. Our human minds struggle with the worldly pull in every direction. We have friends, loved ones, and so very many we have yet to meet who may need a hand along that path. Reach your hand out to someone you know or don’t know and offer them a firm grip to step toward that path. In the same way someone stretched their arm out for us we need do so in kind. There may be resistance in the receiving hand but it won’t hurt for long and it cannot scar. Kingdom Builders is stretching out their hand. Stretching toward many who are struggling just to move let alone stay on course. Seeing this throughout life but now seeing it so differently is an eye-opening experience. On a recent Kingdom Builders project my ten-year-old son assisted with much moving and storing in preparation for a much-needed new floor. The look of satisfaction, heartfelt energy, and love from his heart will never leave my mind. I am so excited to be part of this group, bringing to fruition a man’s calling and doing it in a way of love for our brothers and sisters who, to some are just another set of footprints. Many years ago, a hand tugged me back onto the path. Now others along the path have reached and joined hands. Picture that narrow walkway, but picture it with courses of footprints too many to count. What a gathering that will be. Please join us on this walk with prayers of wisdom for the board, prayers for safety of our workers and volunteers, and prayers for the funds to help strengthen the homes around our community.

PRAISE AND PRAYERS
Praise:
God continues to be faithful, and His provision is seen in each step along the way.
We have completed several projects! And we have a couple more in the pipeline.
For partnership and connection to local Christian business.
Prayers:
As the body of Christ that we do not forget that part of our job is to sharpen others so that the flame in their hearts continues to burn.
That we remember our enemy is never another human but the spiritual powers that animate our cultural idols which inspire hatred, division and violence. We pray against the chaos and injustice of spiritual and human rebellion.
We put on the character traits of Jesus like armor – faithfulness, justice and peace.
