If fitness improvement was a mathematical equation…
In the latest video podcast episode, I discussed limitations in our pursuit for fitness. The list is long and varied and changes daily depending on what mood you might be in! As in life, we continually manipulate the degree of difficulty these limitations have. So, let’s do a little test.
Take a second to think about what your list of limitations is?
I hear folks often tell me that they are too old, too fat or too old and fat! They have a low FTP, low VO2 max, low motivation and ultimately low expectations of what they can achieve.
Before you consider watching some of the episode, I want you to think about creating a simple mathematical equation and follow the list below
- Pen down your list of limitations (no more than 5!)
- Now rank them in order of how much control you have over them.
- The number 1 on the list is the focus for the next journey
- The number 1 limitation will have a number of tasks that you can perform daily to improve. Take a few minutes to create these tasks They can be workout, hydration, nutrition, stress, sleep, mindset related. They are TASKS and need NO level of skill.
- Focus on at least 3 DAILY TASKS that you can perform.
- Then go to the bathroom!
- Lock the DOOR!
- Look in the MIRROR!
- Look deep into your eyes!
- Take 3 deep breaths
- Then tell yourself that any idiot can complete a list tasks! There is nothing holding you back but yourself!
As we say in Scotland, ‘Get the job done ya fanny baws!’
Obviously, each day brings new challenges but keep things simple and never forget to focus on what you can control!
