This is a Bonsai tree
The Bonsai tree is a Japanese form of art where they grow stunted trees due to environmental conditioning. They often use it for beautification and decoration...
But I want to point something out to you today.
This is a full grown tree with roots and branches.
It has everything any other tree has, yet it's in a flower pot.
The tree is the way it is because of the conditions or the atmosphere where it was grown.
It's dominating, its a champion, its the tallest tree in the land... But its inside a flower pot.
It's counterparts who were grown on the land where they have ample space and access to nutrients from the soil are 100 times bigger.
It may be the reigning champion inside the flower pot, but it doesn't realise that there is much more.
This Bonsai effect happens to humans too.
I learn this concept from Reigner Davies and it shaped my thinking for life.
The tree represents you.
The flower pot represents your environment.
Due to environmental conditioning, the way we were raised, the kind of society that we come from...
We have been stunted.
We have been "bonsaid"
Many people can't grow beyond a certain level because of the way they were raised. Because of the kind of things that have been said to them over time.
Have you ever wondered why once most people leave Nigeria, its as though they opened the floodgates of prosperity and progress on them?
It's because they left an environment that stunts growth and they went to a better environment that allowed them to Flourish and live up to their potential.
There were a lot of limiting beliefs passed down to us from our parents, uncles, teachers in school, etc.
I mean....
Who told you that every rich person you see is doing something shady?
Who told you that only people who have government connections succeed?
Who told you that every young boy succeeding is doing yahoo?
Who told you that every young girl killing it is a runs girl?
Who told you that rich people don't have peace of mind?
Who told you that people must suffer so much before they get the good things of life?
Why do people hate on rich men's children a lot?
The list goes on.
It's Bonsai!!!!!
You have been raised to see life in a particular way.
And if you will go very far in life, you need to Unbonsai.
To Unbonsai means to come out of the flower pot and expose yourself to a totally new environment where you'll be allowed to grow.
You may say "Joseph Don, I don't have the money to travel abroad now"
It's not about traveling abroad.
This Bonsai thing is in the mind
Even though traveling helps.
Start from fixing your mind.
Associate with people who have like passion
Read biographies of people who have succeeded in your niche.
Check what your colleagues are doing globally so that you can think bigger.
Read books, watch documentaries, etc.
Nigeria on its own sef is a flower pot, but thank God we have the Internet. We can rise above this country and its systems, even if we're living here.
the world is yours for the taking, but you can not dominate globally with the mindset of a local champion.
