How Mary turned her stories into a life-changing achievement

One course changed everything...

Good news story!

Hi..

We have some amazing news to share about Mary, one of our former writing course learners.

Mary had always wanted to turn her ideas into stories, but she struggled to find a creative writing course.

Then she saw an advert for our courses at Kingsway Learning Centre, phoned up and enrolled—and never looked back.

Mary said with encouragement from her tutors, Claire and Vicky, she found the confidence to keep writing.

At 77, she published her debut novel, Girl in the Cornfield, which is available on Amazon.

Since then, Mary has published dozens of books, including children’s books, short stories and a memoir.

Some of her books are also stocked in bookshops, and proceeds from some of her writing have supported local charities.

One of Mary’s books, My Day in Lourdes, raised £700 through sales.

That was enough to sponsor a young person from her church to join the Archdiocesan Youth Pilgrimage to Lourdes—a trip they otherwise could not have afforded.

The book also reached number one in the Christian Miracles category on Amazon, and number two the following year.

Mary has continued learning with us, completing our memoir course and the Early Years course on how to write a children’s picture book story.

Her early years book, The Very First Christmas, raised another £400 for a local charity.

What an amazing achievement, Mary!
