Happy Sunday Peeps,
Can you believe it? Just like that the first quarter of 2025 has come to an end. While I'm still in absolute shock about how fast this years going, I thought this would be a great chance to show you how I do a reset going into Q2. Unlike the average person that does new years resolutions, I've started doing quarterly goals for about 3 years now. Its a great way to allow for a mental reset if things are going off task. It also helps you break down your goals so that a daunting new years resolution doesn't seem impossible along the way. I got this idea from a youtuber named Ali Abdaal, who hosts sessions on this at the beginning of every quarter. His most recent one was yesterday, which I happily attended. Below is a recording of the session in case you are interested!

Productivity Hack: How To Reset π
We all know the feeling of writing down a new years resolution, just to abandon the idea 2 weeks later. Did you tell yourself you'd lose 20lbs this year? Finally hold a 6-pack throughout the summer. I get it we've all been there. But imagine this... Its April 1st, you've just set your Q2 goals and the first thing on your list is to lose 5lbs (1/4 way to that 20). Much more manageable isn't it? 5lbs over 3 months, easy peasy. Now you just have to figure out how you're going to do it! With that in mind, lets get into the how:
Before we jump right into goal setting, its crucial you take 15 minutes to think about what's important to you. So if your serious about setting goals this quarter and want to follow along, try the following exercise:
Grab a piece of paper (Or journal if you have one) and think about the following questions π:
- What areas of my life am I happy about from Q1 of this year?
- Which areas do I wish I had worked harder on?
- How closely have my actions aligned with my overall goals/ life vision the last few months
- Have any of my previous goals become irrelevant and don't interest me anymore?
- What goal do I enjoy working on in the moment, but never find time to start?
Now that your mind is fresh and flowing with ideas, its time to get to the fun stuff (Yes I consider goal setting fun don't judge)! The first step in goal setting is deciding how many goals you want. We shouldn't overwhelm ourselves with 10 goals that will divide our time and effort, but still want to make it challenging enough to keep us engaged. With that, I recommend 3 goals. All of which should be in different categories of your life (Ali Abdaal suggests 2, but I like 3). Personally, I set 1 goal in each of these categories, but feel free to change them to adjust to your lifestyle:
- Personal Life
- Work
- Athletics / Health
Spend another 5-10 minutes thinking about what means the most to you. Don't just write down the first goal you set at the beginning of the year that's yet to be completed. What aligns with your life goal, how will it impact your life in the years to come?
With your goals in mind, its time for milestones! For each goal, I suggest writing 1-3 milestones/ sub goals that you can aim for each week that will help you feel motivated. These should be challenging but attainable given a few weeks of effort. And that's it! Simple and effective. Clear your mind, figure out what's most important to you, and strive for your best!
I plan on sharing my Q2 goals next newsletter. Give this one a go and don't be afraid to share your goals
-Yes you can reply to this email thread it will only go to me :)
Business Update πΌ
Now that the rough draft of my book is finished, the next few weeks of updates might be a little boring. The next month or two will primarily be editing. I had the chance to sit down with a friend whos an online designer (For things like websites, apps, and other online media) who gave me some great suggestions. Little things like hints of colour, and adjusting margins are simple things I would have never changed had she not commented on them. I must say showing anyone my work is one of the most embarrassing things I've done, but to make it good, I know I need fresh eyes.
Being that I expect this book to take a few months to tidy up, I want to start learning more about business and how to sell things. I've had the idea of starting to sell other simple products online through the same name (Bee Routine) so that I can start learning about Amazon's shipping process, and how to handle payments/ deliveries. I don't expect to make much of a profit here, but I think I'll start selling other stationary products throughout Q2 to gain this experience.
Jake's Schedule ποΈ
On a personal note this week is pretty same old same old. I have an exciting life update come next week, but I don't want to spoil anything just yet! I've been feeling sick the last 48 hours, so I'm hoping I can still get to my workouts - worst case scenario I'll substitute them for more editing time!
Send me a copy of your Q2 goals! I'd love to see what fun things you have planned over the next 3 months π€©
Good luck and god speed,
Jacob Kadar
