Julia Butterfly Hill ascended Luna—a giant 1,500-year-old redwood tree near Stafford, California—in December 1997. She lived in Luna for 738 days, until finally descending in December 1999 when an agreement was made with Pacific Lumber Company that protected Luna and a 200-foot buffer zone surrounding the tree.

This morning my heart aches for some of the human collective, how far from its innate beauty and authentic origin it has fallen. I sit here knowing that I want to write something, but words fail me. Having been born into the atrocities of war, my whole life has been devoted to healing, love and peace, and I live in that state because I insist on it. When I am made aware that there are still people who value this precious gift of life so little that they can justify harming another, let alone ending another’s right to having that life, it hurts my heart and I feel that even though we have come a long way, there is still a long way to go. Fear, judgement, blame and shame deprive us from our innate humanness of kindness, compassion, caring and sharing. That is why I have chosen to live in a New Earth of Peace, Love and Wellbeing for all, where our humanity becomes one with its true divinity of unity consciousness. Let us all take a moment and mourn for all who still don’t get it and make a decision to shine our light brighter. I send love around the world. Namaste, which means I see the light in you.
