BLOG: Reasons not to shop at Amazon
Over the last year I've been trying to spend less at Amazon. It's not always been easy, especially when it's been the cheapest or fastest place to buy.
And though ethics play a big part (from pitiful tax payments through to workers' conditions), there are also reasons why using Amazon less could save you money.
Here's more on these, plus a few alternatives you can check out.
BLOG: Nationwide FlexDirect review
For years I've been suggesting you open one of these current accounts. It's consistently offered the best savings rate and scored well for ethics and customer service.
But does it still stand up as a top pick? I've taken a look at the good and the bad in this review.
BLOG: Black Friday bootcamp
We're a week away from the year's biggest sale so I've rounded up some of the steps you should take now to make sure you don't find yourself regretting your purchases.
PODCAST: Cash Chats #150: Getting the best price shopping online
With lockdown restrictions meaning most of us will be doing our Christmas and sales shopping online this year, this week's podcast looks at how we can get the best price.
Also, to celebrate 200,000 all-time downloads (thank you!) and 150 'proper' episodes, there's a competition to win a one-hour video or phone call with me to go through your money questions! All the details on how to enter can be found here.
You can listen via all the normal podcasting routes or over on the blog.
UPDATE: Green Homes Grant: How to get up to £10k free cash
The Government has announced it's extending the Green Homes Grant for a year and it'll now end in March 2022. Here's my guide in case you missed it back in September.

The top deals this week
I only share deals and special offers on the blog which I think are really good value. Click the titles or links for more information.
I've also set up an extra Instagram account dedicated to the deals and offers I spot throughout the week. Do follow me there so you don't miss out on offers that are already finished by the time this email goes out on a Thursday.
1. The best cash savings
Next Tuesday the NS&I rates will drop to practically zero, and a week later TSB will end interest on its Classic Plus accounts. So what should you do with your money? Here's my latest update on the best rates right now, and my video sharing news of a new account coming soon.
2. 12GB SIM-only for £8 a month
If you're out of contract with your mobile then this is a great deal from Three. Normally you'd get 8GB for this price, which in itself is a top pick. But the extra 4GB is worth nabbing (even though most won't need it!). Plus go via a cashback site to bring the monthly price down to £5.50.
3. 10% Iceland boost
Until the 29th November you can get a double bonus from Iceland's savings card. You'll get £2 for every £20 you add rather than the usual £1.
4. Half-price Eurosport
Get access to the online Eurosport player for £19.99 for a year.
5. NOW TV pass and stick hack
Sometimes the cheapest ways to get new NOW TV passes are when bundled with smart sticks. Prices have dropped this week to £19.99 for a stick with one-month entertainment, one-month cinema and one-day sports pass. That's not bad all in, especially if you need the smart stick.
But it gets better if you don't need the stick as you can sell it for a tenner at CEX. Here's where to get the bundle.
6. LAST CHANCE: £125 Natwest switch
You've got until today to grab £125 for moving your bank to Natwest. The money will be paid by the 12th February 2021. This is open to existing customers who haven't the free cash in the last three years. You can also take advantage of a monthly reward worth £3 a month after a fee.
A 100 offer to switch to RBS ends the same day, but as you can't do bother I think the Natwest offer is better.
7. My Black Friday ultimate deals page
As I do every year I'll be compiling my huge list of which stores are taking part in Black Friday sales and my pick of the best offers.
There's nothing particularly special right now, but I expect that'll change from Friday when Amazon begins its week-long countdown. So keep an eye on this page so you don't miss out.
