Santander cuts interest and lowers fee on 123 account

The monthly fee on a Santander 123 has dropped to £4, but the interest on offer has also been sliced in half.

I know many of you ditched it when the interest rate dropped last year. But if you've still got it, you really should look to switch away.

Here's more on the latest cut, better options for your savings and how to change your account to the 123 Lite version.

Find out how the changes will affect you

0% balance transfer credit cards – the good and the bad

Transferring credit card debt to a card charging zero interest can save you hundreds of pounds.

In this guide I've shared how they work, including how to decide whether a lower fee is better than a longer 0% length.

If you bank with HSBC - or First Direct and M&S Bank - then you could be impacted by news that more than 80 HSBC branches will close this year.

Here's the full list of branches that will go, and some options for your future banking.

Should you ditch HSBC?

The top deals this week

I only share deals and special offers on the blog which I think are really good value. Click the titles or links for more information.

I've also set up an extra Instagram account dedicated to the deals and offers I spot throughout the week. Do follow me there so you don't miss out on offers that are already finished by the time this email goes out on a Thursday.

1. Disney+ / O2 bundle

If you are after a new SIM-only deal and already pay for Disney+, then this combo could work out pretty good.

You'll get 10GB of data for £10 a month with O2 on a one-year contract. As part of that you'll also get six months free Disney+, and then £2 off a month after that.

2. £10 off for new Deliveroo customers

If you've never used takeaway site Deliveroo you can get a boosted £10 off when you spend £15 on your first order.

3. Supermarket cashback freebies

There are a bundle of free items you can get via cashback apps this week, including kombucha and diet Pepsi. Here's more on what's available and how to claim the money back.

4. Samsung S21 at 0%

Nine times out of ten, if not more, getting a new mobile phone in a contract with your data/minutes etc is going to cost you more than buying it outright and going SIM-only.

That'll be the case with the new Samsung S21 range. But who has £800+ ready to dole out upfront? The good news is you can apply for 0% credit for up to three years, helping you spread the cost out without paying the network for the priviledge.

5. One-year free Mubi streaming service hack

If you're a fan of world, cult and indie cinema, the Mubi could be a great streaming service to try. And you can do it free!

A year-long subscription is giving away to anyone with a Scribd membership - even those on the 30-day free trial. So sign up for the latter, claim your freebie and then cancel.

I've not been able to double-check you'll keep your Mubi membership after you end the Sribd trial, but it worked for me last summer.
