My top articles this week

1. Get 2 for 1 cinema tickets all year for just £1 with Meerkat Movies

One of the best ways to pay less every week at the cinema is through two tickets for the price of one. And the best way to do this is via Meerkat Movies. I first wrote about the trick that get's you access to this for just £1 a year back in 2015, but I've updated my article to include information on which cinemas accept the codes and which don't, as well as a few tricks to stack extra savings on top.

2. What’s the best American Express credit card for cashback?

There's been another change to the rewards new Amex joiners can get - the second in just four weeks. And again there was no advance notice. I think if you've been planning on getting one but haven't got around to it you shouldn't wait any longer in case there are further cuts.

To help you choose, I've taken a look at which American Express cards are best for cashback - and I've shared why I'm such a big fan of using these for your everyday spending - I genuinely make hundreds of pounds each year doing this.

3. Cheap chicken isn’t something to shout about

Iceland has launched what it claims is the cheapest chicken breasts in the UK. From the supermarket that just a few months ago was trying to save orangutans from deforestation, this doesn't demonstrate a wider concern about animal and bird welfare.

But they aren't alone - with the vast bulk of chicken sold in supermarkets not raised at a standard most shoppers would expect. In fact, many consumers don't even realise they're buying intensively farmed meat.

In this article you can find out more about what constitutes higher-welfare conditions, and ways you can eat meat ethically without paying sky-high prices.

The top deals this week

I only share deals and special offers on the blog which I think are really good value - and here they are for you too. First some newbies in a bit more detail, then some you might have missed from previous weeks. Click the red titles or blue links for more information.

1. "Free" Easter Egg and more Easter reductions

Until midnight Friday you can claim £1.50 back on any Easter Egg you buy in the supermarket via the TopCashback app. So buy a £1.50 egg and it'll be free - which is what I did earlier in the week, nabbing a £3 egg at 50% off.

And don't miss out on further Easter reductions as shops clear leftover stock. It's a great time to pick up posh choc from the likes of Hotel Chocolat at massively discounted prices.

Plus, since most shops close their doors completely on Easter Sunday (I've been caught out by this so many times in the past!) there should be some decent reductions on fresh food in the supermarket - just make sure there's room in the freezer for any bargains you pick up.

2. Argos, Habitat, Made and more home, garden & DIY offers

Planning on doing up the house? Here are a few deals that could be just right.

Until Tuesday you can get vouchers back when you shop in Argos. Spend £50 get a fiver back to spend, and spend £100 and you'll get a tenner. It's on everything Argos sells, so home, tech, toys and more. The vouchers have to be spent in Argos by mid May.

Elsewhere, Habitat is offering an extra 10% off its sale prices, while Made.com has a rare free delivery promotion. I've also rounded up the Bank Holiday deals I can find for places like B&Q and Homebase - including promotions on paint and wallpaper.

3. 10% off loads at eBay, and possible free fiver

There's another 10% off deal at eBay, running over the Easter weekend. This time it also includes shops like AO, as well as regulars such as Hughes Electrical, Joules and Music Magpie.

It's worth taking a look at your eBay account too as I spotted a banner giving me £5 off when I spend £10.

4. Six months of Tidal music streaming for £29.99

Though I'm a Spotify fan, I think it's worth trying out the different music streaming services. One I've not done yet is Tidal and this seems like a good opportunity to give it a go. You can get two months for free, or six months for £29.99, making it £5 a month.

5. £10 off a Chromecast Ultra

Chromecast deals aren't as common now as they used to be, but if you're after the 4K version you can pick one up in Argos for £59 - and you'll also get that free £5 Argos voucher on top.
