My top articles this week

1. How to save money with the world food aisle

It's not just the weird and wonderful that's stocked in the world food aisle at the supermarket, some regular and store cupboard staples can be picked up for a fraction of the price. But these cheaper products aren't always easy to find. Here's where to look, what you can find and how much you could be saving.

2. New 16 -17 Saver Railcard – how it works

Railcards are a great way to cut the price of train travel, and following the launch of the 26-30 Railcard last year, young people are getting another rail discount with the launch of a new railcard for 16 and 17-year-olds. These under 18s will be able to get 50% off loads of fares. Here's how it works, and how it compares to the 16-25 Railcard.

3. Why you still need to watch out for 0845 and 0870 numbers

It's not often I slip up on the money saving front, but I managed to forgot one of my favourite little tricks the other week by dialling a phone number than began 0871. The call almost doubled my monthly bill, but I could easily have avoided it. Here's my list of phone numbers that won't be included in your allowance, and how you can find alternative ones to call.

4. Last chance to claim a PPI refund

The deadline to claim for PPI ends on the 29th August so this really is your last chance to see if you had it. And there's a good chance you did without realising as mis-selling was rife. Here's how you can find out if you had it and put in a complaint yourself. It's free and pretty easy, so don't use one of those PPI firms who take a cut.

The top deals this week

I only share deals and special offers on the blog which I think are really good value. Click the red titles or blue links for more information. You can also watch it over on my YouTube channel.

1. Flash sale - 10p train fares with Northern Rail

If you are travelling from places in the north of England then you might be able to really cut the cost of train tickets in September. Loads of fares are reduced to just 10p. I've picked up a 20p return to Sheffield and hope to grab a few more.

2. Free £15 for opening digital bank account

Open up a Monese current account and you can get £15 paid to your account when you first use your debit card. Or you can choose to get three month's premium instead. Both require codes to get the offer you pick, which you can find here.

3. National Burger Day deals

Today, 22nd August, is National Burger Day and restaurants are celebrating by offering deals and discounts. I've spotted 50% off at Giraffe and two for one at Ed's Diner. Plus places like Meat Liquor and Byron have emailed out discount vouchers to people on their mailing lists. Well worth a look.

4. "Free" cinema ticket this Sunday with Lotto ticket

Buy a £2 Lotto ticket for this Saturday's draw and you can also use it to nab a free cinema ticket at Odeon, Picturehouse, The Light and many more. Here's everything you need to know.

5. Five Odeon tickets for £20

The popular Groupon offer is back, getting you five cinema tickets for £20 or two for £10. There'll be an extra 75p booking fee when you use each ticket, but even with that £4.75 to see a movie is really good value.

6. Habitat 25% off and another £10 off on top

This bank holiday sale will cut 25% off most items, including clearance, and you can knock another £10 off when you spend £75 or more. That means if you spent £100 it'd only cost you £65.

7. Amazon End of Summer sale

Another sale for the weekend is over at Amazon. Prices aren't as low as on Prime Day but it's worth a look.

8. LAST CHANCE - Sky Sports season pass on NOW TV

The deal to get a 10 month pass to watch Sky Sports channels via NOW TV ends next week. It'll cost £199, though there might be ways to save a little more in cashback.
