Apologies for the long absence! But I’ve got something for Intagrammers eyes only, which will be the basis for my next vid. If you’re weighing up what cladding to use, I’ve created a webpage of all the most commonly used cladding types with some wildcards thrown in, with many unseen examples from your self-builds. It’s designed to be an introduction to each type, rather than in depth. Find it at: www.alidymock.com/cladding-2/ There are bits to add still but let me know here if there’s anything you think I’ve missed, how to make it better or any other ideas you have ?? And RIP Prince Philip, my favourite and most amusing royal ?
This vid went live over the weekend. My SketchUp skills are slowly improving ?
#Ad New vid now up on the third bedroom project using MEDITE Clear MDF. Very DIY-friendly project: I simply glued the strips of MDF to the melamine wardrobes for a cost effective makeover. There’s a little bit of personal news in the vid too ☺️ #meditemdf
#Ad The wardrobe makeover in the bedroom has required me to learn about MDF, a material I’ve not really used much before. Medite, a leading MDF manufacturer are kindly sponsoring the video and supplied me with samples of their various offerings. Prior to this I was unaware of the different applications it could be used for, especially exterior grade MDF so I’ll definitely be looking at that when we get to the cladding stage! Vid should be out tomorrow. #meditemdf
Wow, YT put me on their Trending Page for 24 hours. Thank you all for watching and liking my vids for making this happen ☺️ Feeling like Pinocchio - I’m a real boy now!
Hey guys, I’m probably going to do the wardrobe vid before going back to the GRW series so there’s no point delaying any longer. Here it is, one sweep and clear out from done! Hope you like it and watching it being build has been worth it. It’s not perfect but I am proud of it. The build has been a foundational crash course for me in DIY and construction and seems to have sparked the same in many of you. The ‘Xmas tree’ in the previous post could be a good location for another one...??
Looks like I’ve forgotten to take down the Christmas tree ❄️
Kicking things off in the bedroom with a double drop. 1/1 Insulated Plasterboard 2/2 SoundProofing my neighbours ?
It’s a small thing but I’m quite chuffed as my general feeling towards electrics to date has been one of apprehension! 1/4: pulled up floorboard and found some slack in the cables which I was able to pull through. The cut outs either side are for the yellow tabs on the back box... 2/4 a shallow 35mm back box with tabs out, slotting behind the final layer of plasterboard. 3/3 all back to how it was. 4/4 Victory!
Follow up from the last post: The yellow tecsound is a playdough-like material that adds a huge amount of mass as well as elasticity to stop sound so a lot more effective than green glue- crazy heavy though! It gets sandwiched between two layers of acoustic plasterboard. Dogs barking next door already much quieter! ?
