Hi ,
Thank you for volunteering for the spooky walk at the Fun For All Fall Festival fundraiser! We're looking forward to a fantastic evening!
LOCATION
The fundraiser festival is being hosted at the beautiful Back To Nature Garden Center in historic Augusta near Summerville.
1815 Kissingbower Rd
Augusta, GA 30904
ARRIVAL
To ensure we are ready to go when the event begins at 6:00 PM, please be sure to arrive no later than 5:40 PM. If you are also helping with event setup, please arrive no later than 5:00 PM.
When you arrive, your points of contact at the event will be Danae and Lisa. They'll be the first people to ask if you need help or have questions.
SPOOKY WALK DETAILS
Please wear your own favorite Halloween costume! As a volunteer, you'll not only be a fun character for the kids to trick or treat with, you'll also be eligible for the event costume contests! Go as big, realistic, or silly as you want. Keep only a few things in mind when deciding how to dress up.
- Kid-friendly. Please avoid costumes or makeup with an emphasis on gore or disturbing content like body horror. We want to keep the mood spooky but not shocking so the kids can have a great time!
- Ease of movement. The spooky walk will wind through a forest path, which is well worn but may not always be completely flat. Be sure to wear something that won't trip you up on natural ground.
When interacting with kids on the spooky walk, please keep in mind these general guidelines!
- Have fun with it! Make your character your own, and feel free to lean into some Halloween eerieness or drama. You'll have room along the path to spread out for your own performance schemes or to partner with another character and play off each other.
- Glow bracelets. Each kid will be given a glow bracelet in one of two colors: red or green. These are cues to help you! A green glow bracelet means they're feeling comfortable and ready for a friendly spook; go for that extra evil cackle or tease! A red glow bracelet means they aren't sure they're ready for a scare and want to know that you're friendly. Younger kids are generally more likely to wear red bracelets.
- Candy. Kids will have the option to trick or treat with you on the spooky walk. Remember to let them choose a few pieces of candy when they come by!
- Duration. The spooky walk will run the full two hours of the fundraiser. If you need to grab a drink or run to the restroom during that time, we trust your judgment to manage yourselves and stay well. Please stagger any breaks amongst yourselves to keep the spooky walk running smoothly.
During the fundraiser, the Back To Nature bistro will be open for business with tasty entrees and great bang for your buck! If you need a bite to eat before or during the event, or to save for a snack afterwards, we encourage you to visit the bistro or the fundraiser's bake sale. There will be cold lemonade, warm ciders, and water available at the fundraiser bake table, where volunteers are invited to grab a complementary drink. Stay hydrated!
