KNOSK SOLVER WINS BIBLE BEE COMPETITION

Join us in celebrating the incredible achievement of our very own Deborah Light, a student of JSS1B at KNOSK N100-a-Day School! Deborah has emerged as the Overall Best in the Junior Secondary category of the Bible Bee competition, organized by Discipleship Bible Bee. We couldn't be prouder of Deborah's accomplishment, and she was awarded a well-deserved sum of N150,000 for her exceptional performance.

It's worth mentioning that a total of 11 students from KNOSK N100-a-Day School participated in the competition, and an impressive 6 out of the 11 qualified for the final stage. We extend our heartfelt cheers to Solver Deborah for bringing pride and honor to our school community.

We would also like to express our deep gratitude to Discipleship Parenting Academy (Instagram: @discipleshipparentingacademy) for their generosity in offering scholarships to 10 KNOSK students to participate in the 2023 Discipleship Bible Bee. This incredible opportunity has allowed our students to shine forth their light and showcase their knowledge and dedication. We are truly grateful for this meaningful collaboration and the positive impact it has had on our student's lives.

GO DIGITAL || KNOW IT || DO IT

We are thrilled to share an exciting update from the Tunmise Johnson Foundation! On June 12th, our students had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Go Digital session organized by the T.A Community. This session aimed to expose our students to the significance of digital skills, covering a wide range of topics, from basic computer operations to essential software packages like Microsoft Office.

During the session, our students also delved into fascinating subjects such as AI-generated answers, phonetics, and their relevance in society. This holistic approach ensured that our students gained a comprehensive understanding of the digital landscape and its impact on various aspects of their lives.

The T.A Community, comprising professionals from diverse backgrounds including education, social work, and technology, played a pivotal role in making this event a resounding success. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the T.A Community for their kind donation and for organizing such a wonderful Go Digital session for our students.

KNOSK ENTRANCE EXAMINATION AND SCREENING EXERCISE KICKS OFF

On Saturday, June 24th, 2023, we successfully conducted the first batch of our entrance examination. Out of the 54 prospective students, 44 participated in the examination, marking the beginning of an exciting journey for the KNOSK educational program.

This year, our admission process stands out for its uniqueness. We have two distinct programs in which students can be enrolled. Those who excel in the entrance examination will be admitted into the JSS1 class of the KNOSK N100-a-Day Charity Secondary School. On the other hand, students who require additional support with reading and basic literacy skills will be admitted into the pilot edition of our one-year literacy program.

As a result, we anticipate welcoming an additional sixty (60) students, bringing our total student population to approximately 167. We are excited about the growth and potential impact we can make in the lives of these children. The screening process will be concluding on Saturday, July 29th, 2023.

Would you be interested in offering full or partial sponsorship to one or more of these children in the upcoming academic year? If so, we kindly request that you fill out our sponsorship form at https://bit.ly/KNOSKStudentSponsorsForm.

Alternatively, if you would like to support mealtime for these children in the next academic year, please fill out our meal sponsorship form at https://tinyurl.com/knoskmealtimeangel.

Your generosity can make a significant difference in the lives of these deserving students.

INTRODUCING THE KNOSK READING ENRICHMENT PROGRAM REP (2023)

Are you aware of a child who could benefit from improved reading skills? We have some exciting news for you! Our program, REP, not only helps children enhance their reading abilities but also rewards them for their efforts.

What is REP? It's an initiative aimed at fostering a love for reading among public school students aged 11 to 13. Implemented with the support of the Afriglobal group and the Child2Child Book Foundation, REP creates a vibrant reading culture and provides an engaging platform for young readers to flourish.

How does it work? Participants choose a book, read it, and share what they've learned. Each completed book read within a week grants them an opportunity to earn up to 200 naira. Reading and earning go hand in hand!

But that's not all! In the second stage of the program, the top 30 participants will compete in challenges like spelling bees and word puzzles. These talented participants will have a chance to win fantastic cash prizes and equivalents.

HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT PROJECT 9'90? HERE IS WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN PROJECT 9'90!

We are in our fourth school year since the inception of KNOSK School in September 2019. Over these four sessions, we have grown from 30 to 107 students, overstretching our current building from just a simple 5-bedroom duplex to adding 7 additional rooms to accommodate all our learners.

This current facility also houses our ICT lab, science lab, workshop, library, and sickbay, along with 7 classrooms. There is barely enough room to accommodate the number of teachers we have.

For every 30 children we admit each year, we are unable to admit an average of 70 children from low-income families due to lack of space. There are 20.4 million out-of-school children, we would like to take in at least 100 children every school year.

We've also seen cases of children who came to take our entrance exams but couldn't read or write after finishing primary school. We want to set up a literacy center and program for children like this in Kuje. These kids are from the poorest families, so they will not be able to afford any intervention in the future. This already excludes them from future opportunities.

As of today, UNICEF records that 75% of Nigerian children aged 14 and below are unable to read. We want to do something about that.

Finally, we want to set up a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) center where these children can get solid livelihood skills as part of their mainstream education. After graduation, we want them to be financially independent, whether or not they advance to the university.

For this reason, we have set out to raise funds to build nine (9) classrooms in 90 days.
