Car batteries degrade over time and need to be replaced every three to five years. Changing your battery yourself can be frustrating because some of your car's settings can reset while your vehicle is disconnected.

Because of this, some will recommend keeping your car connected to the electricity by using another vehicle or a jump box. Please do not do this! Keeping a vehicle connected to an energy source while you are changing the battery can be a very expensive mistake.
