How much did things cost in China?

Hi Guys
Our initial thought was that China is a great country to visit. We know this because we spent a month there in 2019. It's modern and has everything you would find in the West.
Qingdao is not a popular destination for Western tourists, mainly Chinese domestic tourists, so we have encountered some frustrations.
- Not many people speak English.
- There are no menus in English.
- People are staring, not in a bad way, but you can see them thinking, "What are you doing here?"
We have found the prices very good for everything you need daily, well below what you would pay in the West.
- Bottle of water $0.80
- Can of RedBull $2.00
- Stubby of Jack Danials and Cola $4.50
- A plate of noodles in a food court is $4.00
- Room at Holiday Inn Express $90.00
Our daughter, who lives in Qingdao, visited our hotel the first morning, and it was fantastic to see her. We also met the family she lives with, Gary, Tia, and baby Gracie.
They are lovely people, and we now feel at ease knowing that they care for and look after Willow well. We went to their Chome (China Home), as we call it, and had a banquette dinner with their extended family. It was a night to remember, particularly how they all liked Willow.
Melbourne Australia
We recently just got back from a weekend in Melbourne, attending a marketing conference and staying in an amazing AirBnb with fantastic views over Melbourne,
Melbourne is the closest city to our home, and even though we visit Melbourne regularly, it is still one of our favourite cities in the world. We have a fantastic Guide on Things to do in Melbourne with teens for you to read!

Our 18-year-old daughter, Willow, boldly moved from a small town of 7,000 people to a massive city of 10 million in China!
Just 10 weeks after her big move, we visited her to learn how she's adjusting to life abroad.
In this candid interview, we ask Willow the tough questions about living in China as an expat, the standard of living in China, and how life in China really is for a foreigner.
