We are in China
Dec 22, 2024 8:01 am
Hi there,
So, after a rather uneventful but somewhat frustrating flight with Beijing Capital Airlines, we landed in Qingdao, China, on Wednesday night. The flight left late and landed late. After landing for some reason we had to sit on board for around 20 minutes until we could get off.
To make things even more frustrating, our luggage was one of the last to come out, and by then, we had missed the option to catch the Qingdao Metro because it would be closed by the time we reached our station.
Ultimately, our oldest daughter Willow who lives in Qingdao and was waiting for us with the cutest sign ever negotiated with a driver to take us into town. Qingdao Jiapdong International Airport is around 40 kilometres from the city centre.
We were meeting the family Willow lives with for dinner in the city, we must admit we have never sat down for Korean BBQ at 11 pm before but hay while in China do as the Chinese do.
The weather came at us like a slap in the face after leaving Melbourne where it had been nearly 40 degrees a day or so earlier to stepping onto the cold Chinese winter night where the temperature was sitting around zero degrees.
Anyway, we made it to China and finally got to our accommodation around 22 hours after heading to Melbourne Airport from our Airport Hotel.
Here's my weekly update for December 22nd, 2024...
