πŸ¦‰ WoW #43 - Covid and Bitcoin both spike πŸ¦‰

Nov 18, 2020 8:03 pm

Happy Wednesday, Wise Owl Nation!

There is a lot going on in the world, and I am once again compelled to give thoughts and content related to current events.

This week I talk about how to boost your immune system and tell a story about how my mother got COVID-19, but because she had been actively working to boost her immune system she was able to fight it off pretty quickly. Woo!

Then we get into the wild rise of Bitcoin and Crypto in general! I once again repeat myself on the critical importance of exposing yourself to crypto, and give some resources on how to do that.

Finally, I've found an easy way to let some of you super kind readers support me. I've been asked to do this by a few of you (wow!) so it is finally here.

If you want to show me some support, but don't care about buying merch, you can now "buy me a coffee!" β˜•β˜•β˜•

This newsletter is my way of sharing the things I learn in the hopes that it adds value to your life in some small way. The fact that some of you want to throw some value back my way blows my mind.

So thank you, and let's get into it!

You can find all past issues (including this one) here.

Wisdom Tip of The Week: Kindness costs you nothing

There is a lot of content in this newsletter, so I am keeping this section brief. We live in a very polarized world right now. You are going to encounter people that you do not agree with, and who hold opinions that may frustrate you.

Just remember, kindness costs you nothing, and can dramatically improve someone else's day. So do me a personal favor and be kind to people. It's free.

Health Tip of The Week: One silver lining about Coronavirus

I live in Texas, which happens to be the state that has the most COVID-19 cases in the United States, which happens to be the country with the most COVID-19 cases in the world.

One of those cases was my mother. Fortunately she had a very mild case and is doing fine. She got the virus recently, right at the end of October. Back in March she came to visit my fiancΓ© and me and I told her and my father how important it was for them to start taking supplements to boost their immune systems.

This was back when the world knew very little about the virus and the death toll was expected to be much greater. Because of this fear they were open-minded and willing to listen.

Both my father and mother started taking vitamin D, vitamin C, and a mushroom immune boosting blend. My father has been religious about it, and my mother has been diligent, but not perfect.

My father is someone that could be considered high-risk. My mother is someone that I would describe as low-to-medium risk. She got the virus and my father did not.

Even so, she got the virus and only experience extremely mild symptoms. Both of my parents are in their mid-to-late sixties, but even for them supplementing to boost their immune systems worked wonders for them.

The protocol is simple. Every day, they take the following:

A staggering 80% of COVID-19 patients hospitalized are vitamin D deficient. This is a systemic problem for Americans in particular. We do not get enough sun, especially as we get older.

Vitamin C has a ridiculous amount of clinical research that shows its efficacy for fighting off infection and dramatically reducing and improving symptoms once you do get sick. One of the biggest problems with COVID-19 is that it causes your body to freak out and creates an overpowered immune response, which ends up doing more harm than good. Vitamin C helps your body not do that.

And finally - the mushroom blend is a personal choice. A lot of the mushrooms included in this blend have research behind them for helping the health of the body. We always hear dietitians talk about meat and plants, but we rarely hear about mushrooms. Fungi are in charge of breaking down the world's garbage, so we don't become buried in it. Fungi are really good at fighting off bacteria and virus'.

The silver lining around COVID-19 is that many people around the world are beginning to take their health and their immune systems seriously. Preventing disease is by far the better approach when it comes to your personal health.

Wealth Tip of The Week: Bitcoin breaks $18,000

Oh how much difference a few years can make.

Friends, I have been pushing Crypto on friends, family, healthcare workers, etc for the last 3.5 years.

Back then was the last time Crypto went wild and the prices soared and millions of people heard the word "Bitcoin" for the first time. That was when Bitcoin skyrocketed from $7,500 per coin all the way up to $20,000 per coin. Then crashed back down.

Thus began the crypto bear market (a term for a down market) that saw Bitcoin drop all the way into the $4,000 range. My personal favorite coin Ethereum dropped from its all-time-high of $1,400 down to around $100!

It was a rough time, but did I give up? No.

Did I sell all of my crypto? Hell no.

Did I continue to buy more? Hell yes.

Now the market is bouncing back, with a much stronger use-case for the increase in value. Ethereum in particular is improving and growing like crazy, although it is still a far-cry from its all-time-high of $1,400. Ethereum is currently valued at around $475. Which I consider a steal.

So, this week's Wealth tip is one that I have mentioned many times.

Learn about cryptocurrency. Learn about Bitcoin and Ethereum. Then start to invest an amount you are comfortable with each month into both of these coins.

Where can you buy crypto?

The easiest place is Coinbase, but now you can buy crypto on PayPal I think, although I strongly recommend you use Coinbase or Gemini.

Where can you learn about Crypto?

Anytime someone asks me where they should get started with Cryptocurrency I usually point them to the Bankless Podcast.

Well now the team at Bankless has released a badass starter guide for how to get started with going bankless. - You can find it here
