Wishing you all the best for 2021! We're starting the year with updates about three amazing women, Melonee Wise CEO of Fetch Robotics, Maren Bennewitz from University of Bonn, and Alicia Casals from Universitat Polit├Ęcnica de Catalunya. Their stories are inspiring!

Please share: https://robohub.org/women-in-robotics-update-melonee-wise-maren-bennewitz-alicia-casals/

You can nominate other outstanding Women in Robotics and why not share your story for one of our next newsletters in our Women in Robotics Spotlights. We love learning about your achievements and why you love robotics too!

And this year we welcome four new Women in Robotics Board Members, joining Andra Keay, Cynthia Yeung, Hallie Siegel, Lisa Winter, Laurie Linz and Sue Keay for 2021:

  • Allison Thackston from Waymo
  • Ariel Anders from Robust.ai
  • Kerri Fetzer-Borelli from TRI
  • Laura Stelzner from RIOS

We also thank Sabine Haeurt and Sarah Osentoski for all their work setting up the Women in Robotics organization and we're pleased that they'll be Co-Chairing our new Advisory Board Committee. We have several Committees looking for volunteers if you're interested in getting more involved!

We're talking about Brotopia by Emily Chang in our bookclub hangout on Saturdays at 2pm PST, with Invisible Women by Caroline Criado Perez in February and perhaps we'll discuss The Power by Naomi Alderman in March!

And our next Online Robotics Job Fair will be at 7pm on Wednesday Jan 20.

Many thanks to Sunita Pokharel for creating the Update series, Allison Thackston for setting up the Spotlights and the WIR website, and Sabine Haeurt for keeping Robohub.org going (often single handedly!)

regards, Andra Keay at Women in Robotics
