Hello, WOBCP supporters,

As we all still mourn the loss of Way Off Broadway Community Players, we wanted to let you know that some of our members are continuing to produce theatre!

Former President Bethany Watkin and Board member Michael Lovestrange are staring in Gruesome Playground Injuries which opens tomorrow. Andrea Littlefield (who directed A Christmas Carol for us) and our wonderful tech guru Billy Cagle are also involved. The production is through Stage Presence Players.

Andrea, Bethany and Michael have been working on this show since December.

Gruesome Playground Injuries is not your typical love story. Doug and Kayleen meet at the nurse’s office in their elementary school, she’s got a stomach ache, and he’s all banged up from a running dive off the roof of the school. During the next 30 years, these scar-crossed lovers meet again and again, brought together by injury, heartbreak, and their own self-destructive tendencies. With great compassion and humor, playwright Rajiv Joseph (Broadway’s Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo) crafts a compelling and unconventional love story about the intimacy between two people when they allow their defenses to drop and their wounds to show.

Note: this play does contain themes that may not be suitable for all.

The show runs July 21, 22, 28, 29 at 8 p.m., and July 23 and 30 at 2 p.m. at Zach North, 14010 US-183 Highway, Suite 540, Cedar Park, TX 787613.

Tickets are available at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/6050743, $20 in advance and $25 cash at the door.
