5 Reasons You Can’t Stay Lean

These 5 things are the most common errors that cause you to lose your progress and re-gain lost fat.

5 Reasons You Can’t Stay Lean

You haven't built enough muscle

Muscle mass burns more calories and helps regulate blood sugar. Let me tell you a story. I used to be the fat guy, and then I lost weight and became the skinny fat guy. For the life of me, I couldn't understand why I didn't look the way I wanted to… I had lost the right, so why didn't I look like I had any muscle definition? The reason was simple - I wanted to lose the weight so bad that I forgot to build muscle. You see, losing fat is excellent, but If you don’t build muscle, you just end up with a smaller version of what you already don’t like.

You never rebuilt your metabolism

Successful people take vacations, and the same is true for your body. If all you do is cut weight without a strategic reverse diet, you’ll only find yourself at risk of packing on the fat you worked so hard to lose. to add back in calories without the fat gain, you’ll just gain all the lousy weight back. To lose the weight AND keep it off, you need to build muscle, lose the fat, and add food back into your diet in the right way so you can get the benefits of a fast metabolism without losing all of your hard-won progress.

Low-quality sleep

Sleep is the king of fat loss, and if you’re like most people, you often find yourself craving junk food because of stress. Here's the deal… you don’t need to sleep 9 hours a night to be lean, but let me tell you, high-quality sleep makes a huge difference with your cravings, motivation, and stress. I used to be the person who needed to sleep. 9 hours just to feel ok, but over time I learned how to get better sleep. The result? Now I feel great on only 7 hours of sleep, hardly get any cravings, and can stay on my diet so much easier.

You don’t eat enough protein

Protein keeps your stomach full and carries a vast majority of essential nutrients to keep your body healthy. Eating enough protein is critical for muscle growth, recovery, and joint health because the amino acids in protein are the building blocks of all tissue in your body. Fail to eat enough protein, and you’ll surely find yourself craving pasta, binge-eating peanut butter, and feeling under-recovered between workouts.

You exercise too little

Most people know that lifting weights helps build muscle, but what you probably don’t know is that it also helps improve your body's hunger singling to match what you need instead of tempting you into mindless eating. Lifting weights also helps prevent fat gain. We are human, not perfect. Inevitably you will treat yourself to a little overeating, and this is where lifting weights really helps. By lifting weights 3-5x a week, you’ll get stronger, build muscle, improve your metabolism, build stronger bones, reduce mindless eating, and become resistant to re-gaining body fat. Sound too good to be true? Well, it's not - and this is exactly why you must ensure you are on a good plan.
