Hi !

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Whether you’re swinging single, in a relationship, in a complicated relationship, engaged, or married, may you have a day filled with love and joy!

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, I thought I would share with you a little love story of mine.

Here’s the story of how I met the love of my life...

We were both working on an inpatient floor, me as a nurse and he was doing the legal part. At the time, I was married and didn’t think of him as anything more than friends/coworker especially we found out we were both stationed in Okinawa back in 2005. We were in the Navy then, but I was a newbie navy girl, and he was in for a couple of years ahead of me.

There was something about him though, and the more we became friends the more I realized something was missing in my marriage. We fell for each other eventually, and I had a lot of guilt and shame going through my divorce because I blamed every inch of my existence as to what had happened. I lost friends and family to pursue the unknown (a new love with no guarantee) and risk everything my ex-husband and I had built in, instead of sticking with what supposedly worked and looked good to everyone. I had a lot of self-doubt but with that also came self-love and forgiveness. You can find out more of my story here.

Five years later, here we are stronger than ever and just had our son after we had our daughter 3 years ago (I call her my silver lining). I still have my son from my previous marriage. Even though I lost some family and friends for a decision they did not believe in (trust me it was hard), I gained a whole extended family from his side: his kids, his ex-wife whom I’m friends with no drama, and the rest of his siblings).

Hey, just like in Pocahontas, sometimes you just gotta listen to your heart.

BTW, later after we started officially dating, he would tell me that one of our mutual friends were supposed to introduce us back then in 2005. Yes, I guess he has seen me in one of the clinics, but he wasn’t ready for a relationship. I would joke that he wasn’t ready for a real woman LOL.

Which is why he always thought he knew me somewhere but afraid to ask being that it sounded like another pick up line. Guess what? That same friend we would see again at the hospital and would eventually remind him of who I was. And so we met…ten years later. Talk about fate. Or serendipity.

So , know that everything happens in its own perfect timing, even true love 😊

And this is why I do what I do. I want to help you live a life true to yourself no matter what other people think. Simple enough concept, great idea, but not always easy to follow through. Because I believe there's freedom in every truth.

And here’s my free gift: a love journal that will help you uncover insights so that you can become a better partner and, in the process, a better person. With that, you and your love can grow stronger together. You can download it here.

My second Valentines gift, I just launched my new Etsy printables shop where I offer different self-care journals and would love for you to check it out. Use code ZENLOVE50 to get half off if you find something interesting or simply click here to go straight to the store.

As always, much love for allowing me space in your inbox and hope to see you in my next email!

XOXO,

Wella
