🎾 video: how to serve with eastern backhand grip

Oct 16, 2024 10:31 pm

Hi ,

I’ve served with an eastern backhand grip since I was 15 years old.

My coach at that time saw that I was changing the grip during the serve swing, ending up holding the racket at contact with a forehand (eastern) grip.

That limited my power and I could not create a decent slice, not to mention a kick serve.

Therefore he had me begin with the palm over on bevel 8, which is the first one to the left of the continental (bevel 1) - I’m right-handed by the way.

I made a short video (link below) to show you how it looks and how you can give it a try too.

This grip will allow you to create spin (slice, and especially kick) so much easier.

Just make sure your hand and wrist are relaxed when serving with the eastern backhand grip.
