🎾 why beginners should not take private lessons

May 03, 2026 3:21 pm

Hi ,

Many parents want me to introduce their kids to tennis, and some request to have private lessons quite often, even every day (the wealthy ones).

Now, don’t get me wrong - I don’t turn away people who support my business financially, but ultimately, as a coach, I want my students to stick with tennis for as long as possible and not switch to one of the “easier” alternatives (read my opinion on pickleball here).

That’s why, in this new video, I explain why beginner players should not start or take too many private lessons, and I also share my 5-step developmental process players should follow.

It is a short 4-minute video; watch it here:

[New] Why Should Beginners Avoid Private Lessons (Often)

Your opinion on this subject is welcome, and I would love to hear it - use the comment box under the video to open or continue the conversation.

Enjoy the week ahead,

P.S. These are my favorite tennis tools for training and coaching:

- Pongbot Pace S Pro - the best ball machine with 500+ pre-programmed drills; real-match simulation, and my favorite one... its player tracking system.

- Fitville tennis shoes - I love how comfortable they feel, especially for lateral movements; my toes are not crammed anymore!
