Here is a recap of our message from this weekend...
Serving as Jesus Served: Displaying Christ's Love through Acts of Service
In week 3 of Influencers, we dove into the essence of demonstrating Christ-like love through humble service. The sermon uncovers the act of serving others as a powerful reflection of Jesus's love. Drawing from the account of Jesus's humble act of washing the disciples' feet, the focus shifts from seeking worldly influence to acquiring true influence by serving others with humility and love. The sermon encourages us to serve as Jesus did, showcasing love that transcends words and transforming our communities into havens of selflessness.
Embracing Servanthood
Servanthood extends beyond obligation, it's a privilege. It's a deeper commitment to mirror the selfless life of Jesus, transforming an ordinary act of serving into a powerful example of His love. When observing Jesus washing the disciples' feet, we're reminded that our willingness to serve others – even in discomfort or inconvenience – does not go unnoticed in God's kingdom where true influence is not measured by how many serve us, but by how well we serve and love others.
Weekly Bible Study List
- 1 John 3:18 - "Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth."
- John 13:1-17 - The story of Jesus washing the disciples' feet, highlighting the importance of serving others to reflect him.
- Acts 20:35 - "It is more blessed to give than to receive."

3 Ways We Serve People for Massive Impact:
- Serve to Reflect Jesus: This stresses the importance of reflecting Jesus's selflessness in our actions. It's more than just mere lip service; it extends to displaying His teachings through acts of service, providing a profound extension of His unconditional love to others. It is our greatest opportunity to make an impact in the life of another person.
- Serve to be a Blessing: The sermon points to Acts 20:35 as a reference to the joy we receive in giving over receiving, encouraging us to serve other as living examples of Jesus. This journey of serving others, even those we deem unworthy, not only fulfills us personally, but also brings authentic blessing and fulfillment to those we serve, bridging division with love and kindness in our communities.
- Serve out of Love: Drawing on the teachings of John 13:1 and 1 John 4:19, we explore Jesus's endless love for humanity. Our service must be motivated on the foundation of pure love, not seeking returns but fueled by a drive to show true compassion and kindness. This is the only way we're able to sustain a life of service that makes Godly impact.
Serving others in this capacity brings radical transformation, changing not just our external world but our internal realities. Discipleship as Jesus intended is a journey from a self-centered living to a life of selfless service. It better to give than to receive.
