Here is a recap of our message from this weekend...

GRATITUDE: BUILT ON GRATITUDE, MOVING IN FAITH

image

In the final service at One City Church's current building, Pastor Jared delivers a powerful message on gratitude and faith for the future. Drawing from Joshua 4 and Psalm 103, he reminds the church not to forget what God has done, because remembrance fuels expectation. As the church prepares to move into a new space, the message is clear: we’re not walking away from something—we're walking into more.

The Sunday Outline & Notes

In One City Church’s final service at the beloved location on Indian River Road, Pastor Jared delivered a message filled with gratitude, reflection, and vision. It wasn’t just a goodbye to a building—it was a moment to pause, praise, and prepare for what God is about to do next. The sermon, rooted in Joshua 4 and Psalm 103, calls us to remember God’s past faithfulness so that we can move into the future with bold faith and expectation.

A Day to Remember

Pastor Jared opened the message with a powerful thought: “We don’t praise God because we hope He’ll do something. We praise Him because we understand what He’s already done.” This final service was declared a day of remembrance—to honor all that God has done in this room, in this building, and in the lives of the people who have walked through the doors of One City Church.

The message transitioned into a time of communion, just like Jesus instructed His disciples the night before His crucifixion: “Do this in remembrance of Me.” Communion became a symbolic moment where the church collectively reflected on the sacrifice of Jesus, the covering of His blood, and the forgiveness we walk in.

1. Gratitude Remembers God's Power

The human heart has a tendency to forget what it should remember—and remember what it should forget. We hold on to old offenses and overlook past victories. But before the Israelites crossed into their promise, God told them to take stones from the Jordan and build a memorial. Why? So they’d never forget the miracle.

Pastor Jared reminds us that when we remember what God has done, we walk into the next season with boldness. Gratitude anchors us in the reality of God’s faithfulness. This building, where thousands encountered Jesus and lives were forever changed, is a living memorial of God’s power at work.

2. Gratitude Fuels Our Expectation

Gratitude is not just reflective—it’s prophetic. It doesn’t just look back; it points forward. When we reflect on God’s goodness, it resets our expectations for what He can still do. Psalm 103 lists the benefits we’re called to remember: He forgives, heals, redeems, crowns, and satisfies.

In the same way we trust a product based on reviews, we trust God's future based on His past. Our church is full of five-star reviews: every salvation, every breakthrough, every restored marriage is proof that He’s not finished. Gratitude gives us permission to believe again—and to believe big.

3. Gratitude Prepares Us for What’s Next

Gratitude positions your heart to be ready for what God is about to do. Ephesians 3:20 says He is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine. This move isn’t about a bigger building—it’s about a bigger assignment. We’re not closing a chapter; we’re turning the page.

Pastor Jared emphasizes that when God moves a church, it’s because He’s ready to move through that church. Gratitude is what opens the doors—not just to a new building, but to the next level of God’s purpose. It’s how we honor the past and make room for the future.

Final Call to Action

As we move from this space into the next, Pastor Jared gives us a clear path forward:

1. BUILD THE LEGACY

The best way to honor what God has done is to make sure it continues. Join the movement and participate in the God’s Guarantee challenge at https://www.weareonecity.com under the “Give” tab.

2. GO ALL IN

This is not the season to be half-hearted. Serve. Invite. Give. Build. Be the kind of church that is ready for God to expand. Be the #1 fan of what He’s doing.

3. BRING SOMEONE IN

Who in your life needs this church, this community, this message? Make a plan to bring at least 4 people to Christmas at One City on December 21st. Let God do in them what He did in you.
