Here is a recap of our message from this weekend...
YOUNITED: United We Stand
This week, Pastor Jared launched the powerful YOUnited series, starting with a message titled "United We Stand." He opened by discussing the world's need for unity—unity in our churches, our families, and our communities. Unity, as seen in Psalm 133, is a blessing cherished by God. Pastor Jared used this message to highlight the importance of unity and how Christians must strive to remain connected despite differences.
Weekly Bible Study List
- Psalm 133:1 – "How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!"
- Acts 2:44 – "All the believers were together and had everything in common."
- John 17:23 – "I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity."
- Ephesians 4:3 – "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."
- Proverbs 27:17 – "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."
3 THINGS TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT UNITY
- Unity Brings Blessing - The first point made was that unity brings blessing. In Psalm 133, unity is compared to precious oil that anoints and refreshes. Pastor Jared reflected on the early church in Acts 2:42-44, which exemplified this unity, leading to growth, miracles, and powerful outpourings of God's blessings. Unity opens the door for God's presence to move in powerful ways, and when the church is united, miracles follow.
- Unity Is Necessary - Pastor Jared explained that unity is not optional—it is necessary for the church to thrive. Ephesians 4:3 tells us to "make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." In a divided world, the church should be a place of unity, where we show love even to those who disagree with us. Satan knows the power of unity and seeks to sow division, but we must stand firm in our connection as the body of Christ.
- Unity Brings Joy - Finally, Pastor Jared highlighted that unity brings joy. This joy goes beyond superficial happiness—it's a deep, unshakeable joy that comes from being part of something bigger than ourselves. True joy is found in community, where we celebrate and mourn together, standing with each other in faith. It is in unity that we reflect the love of God and fulfill our deepest emotional need for belonging.
From Sermon to Action
Pastor Jared concluded by urging us to take action, bringing unity into every area of our lives—our homes, workplaces, and even social media. Unity is about more than just us; it's about showing the world what it means to follow Jesus. When we stand united, we create a God-centered community that cannot be easily shaken.
