Breakthrough: Fix Your Focus

Yesterday, Pastor Jared returned from a break and enthusiastically kicked off our new series titled "Breakthrough". Expressing gratitude for our incredible church community, he shared personal stories and powerful lessons that illustrated the sermon's core message.


Pastor Jared titled this week's sermon"Fix Your Focus," encouraging us to shift our focus from the distractions and negativity of life to the promises and blessings of God. Pastor focused on emphasizing the importance of controlling our thoughts, words, and expectations to step into the breakthroughs God has prepared for us.


The sermon ended with a prayer moment where attenders exchanged their prayer cards for a key that they will keep with them during the upcoming 21 days of prayer, posting the key online or in a text with someone when they experience God's blessing in different ways.

  1. Philippians 4:8 (NIV): "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

3 FIXES THAT HELP DEVELOP A MINDSET FOR BREAKTHROUGH

  1. Fix Your Mouth - Words reflect what fills our minds. Ephesians 4:29 teaches that our speech should build others up. Pastor encouraged our ability in controlling our language to ensure it aligns with godly values. He expressed we are empowered to do this through Holy Spirit and evident through the fruit of spirit, specifically self-control.
  2. Fix Your Mind - Transforming our thoughts is essential. Psalm 1:1-2 and Romans 12:2 stress the importance of meditating on God's word to renew our minds and prepare for breakthroughs. Consuming scripture not only helps us reflect God's character, but it helps us to replace the toxicity of our minds with the truth of God's word.
  3. Fix Your Expectations - Finally the congregation was encouraged to raise their expectations of what God can do. Pastor introduced the 21 Days of Prayer initiative, encouraging everyone to write down their breakthrough desires and symbolically exchange them for keys, representing faith in God's provision.


From Sermon to Action

Pastor Jared concluded with a powerful call to refocus on God's ability to bring about breakthroughs. He urges the congregation to join in on the daily devotionals at 12PM and to share pictures of their keys on social media whenever they experience God's blessing, no matter how big or how subtle.
