Here is a recap of our message from this weekend...

All In Your Head: Shame On You

image

In Week 5 of All In Your Head, Pastor Jared tackles the silent weight so many carry: shame. Through Genesis 3, he reveals how shame first entered the world not just as a feeling, but as a force that distorts identity and disconnects us from God. But there's good news: what shame hides, grace heals. And in Christ, we are not defined by our worst moments, but by His love and freedom.

Weekly Bible Study List

  1. Genesis 3:7-10 (NLT) – The first instance of shame in the Bible.
  2. Genesis 2:25 (NLT) – Naked and unashamed before sin.
  3. Romans 8:1 (NIV) – “There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.”
  4. Isaiah 61:7 (NIV) – “Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion...”

The Sunday Outline & Notes

Pastor Jared opens the message with a personal illustration about always bringing a backup shirt to church, just in case of a spill. The reason? Even a tiny stain would distract him from preaching. He likens that to how shame operates in our lives—it's the “stain” that we believe everyone sees, even if it’s invisible. This message sets out to expose shame and replace it with God’s truth.

Where Shame Began

Looking to Genesis 3, Jared shows how shame first entered the human story. After Adam and Eve sinned, they didn’t repent—they hid. They were suddenly aware of their nakedness and felt exposed. But interestingly, the Hebrew word for “naked” in Genesis 3:7 is the same as in Genesis 2:25, before sin. Their condition didn’t change; their perception did. Shame distorted how they saw themselves and caused them to hide.

3 Things to Understand About Shame

From Sermon to Action

Pastor closed by reminding the room that grace rewrites stories. We don’t have to stay stuck in who shame says we are. The altar call is bold—if you’re living with shame, it’s time to be free. Prayer teams are ready to speak identity back into people’s lives, and the worship moment becomes an opportunity for transformation.

Worship Setlist
