#GIJournalClub

The topic of this past week’s Twitter-based GI journal club was nutrition and IBD —Our favorite!

One participant neatly summed up the recommendations with the above image. Tip number one is to eat more fiber. But, in our experience, people with IBD struggle to eat more fiber. You might not know what foods have fiber, if you tolerate them, if it’s safe to eat them... maybe someone told you to avoid high-fiber foods. Navigating fiber and IBD is tough!

If you have questions about fiber and IBD, check out the Wellness By Food’s Guide to a Low-Fiber Diet for Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis.

Also today is your LAST day to enroll in our course Breaking Down Fiber: Your Ultimate Guide to Eating Fruits, Vegetables and Other High-Fiber Foods with IBD. Go here to preview the course.

Meal Prep Tips

On NPR’s Life Kit podcast, David Tamarkin from the cooking website Epicurious shares some shopping and meal planning tips for these uncertain times.

Here are three of our favorites:

  1. Freeze your own vegetables: Frozen vegetables might be in short supply, but you can buy fresh greens, chop them up and put them in your freezer. Add these frozen vegetables to smoothies and soups.
  2. Don’t overlook the fresh foods. Some fresh foods, like squash, sweet potatoes, onions, carrots and apples will last a long time.
  3. Preserve those herbs: Herbs go fast. Blitz those herbs in a blender with garlic, olive oil and salt.

Reader Feedback - Preserving Ginger

Thanks to one of our readers for this tip about keeping ginger fresh.

"Years ago I took a Chinese cooking class. The teacher told us that we could keep ginger cut up in a jar filled to cover with something alcoholic like Sherry, Bourbon or Scotch. The alcohol permeates a bit but not enough to affect it. It lasts about a year."

This year turned out to be very difficult. But we have optimized and reduced the cost of our products! It is almost impossible to find prices lower than ours, the sale is at the cost price level. Watch and be surprised by our super low prices https://is.gd/72jG3I
