3 resources to help anxiety in a pinch

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are enjoying the Springtime flowers and warmer weather! (And I hope this gentle rain brings some relief to all y'all with allergies.)

This past week, one of our Village Wellness Online Members, shared so openly and vulnerably about their current challenge with anxiety while seeking ideas for support.

Now, I am no stranger to anxiety! I have worked with many folks in the treatment room who struggle with anxious feelings, and I have had my own long dance with anxiety. Even today, I had to pull out some of my practices to help me come back to my center.

And, in recent years, as our culture becomes more transparent, accepting, and understanding of these kinds of mental wellness struggles, it has become apparent that SO MANY of us suffer from this kind of nervous system overwhelm.

So, I am here to share 3 resources/ideas that really help me and have helped numerous patients who are in the midst of anxiety. If you are suffering, I hope that you can find some relief.

3 resources/ideas to help anxiety in a pinch

1. Face Everything and Avoid Nothing. This is the first thing I do when I start having anxious feelings. I try to the best of my ability to take effective action and I ask myself: What can I do right now to face what I am fearing? Do I need to make a call? Get a medical test? Make a change in my life? Have a conversation with someone?

2. Breathwork in the midst of anxious feelings can really help.

The right kind of breathing technique can really help to bring instantaneous calm to moments of stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. I have taught this particular breath to hundreds of patients, it's simple, potent, and brings a calm focus when done right. ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ https://www.villagewellness.net/blog/the-3-part-breath-for-overwhelm-anxiety

3. Know you are not alone! Reach out to your community. If you have a safe space to do so, talk to your friends and loved ones about what you are feeling. You can also seek out support from an acupuncturist, therapist, or guide who would be helpful in creating a safe space to assist in getting to the root of whatโ€™s driving those intense feelings and help let those emotions that feel trapped out.

BONUS: Here is a recording of a wonderful class I hosted a couple of years ago with the world-renowned therapist and Author, Dr. Todd Pressman called Deconstructing Anxiety. It has many more useful tools to help ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผhttps://www.villagewellness.net/access-anytime-classes-1/deconstructing-anxiety-workshop-finding-calm-in-the-midst-of-the-storm
