Dragons not included

Hey there,
If you’ve downloaded the Arclands Starter Set or have your copy of the Spellforgers Companion, you will notice that many of the iconic aspects of D&D are missing. Not only did we replace all the character origins (races), but we decided not to include dragons.
Why? Do we hate fun?
Well yes, but that’s not the reason (kidding, we enjoy things, honestly…)
We decided not to have dragons in this world because there was nothing innovative we could do with them. After a nearly century of dragons turning up in fantasy fiction and RPGs, there was literally nothing new to say about them.
We didn’t want to pack our world with monsters because they had to be there, we wanted everything in the Arcverse to have a purpose.
This, of course, is not to diss dragons per se.
In the classic D&D setting Dragonlance, the monster was developed into a world defining concept and in the past decade we have had a reimagined Smaug the Magnificent (great dragon, terrible film). All good stuff, so no need to try to replicate it.
So instead we created a host of amazing beasties, including the silent skeletal giants, the Gorins, and in The Book of the Graces, Raptors (big birds 🦅 the PCs can fly and have sky battles on).
So, a long way of saying ‘we don’t do things randomly, we really are thinking about them’
