Sorias Varren and the Great Eastern War

This is an Arclands lore drop I am exceptionally proud of. Sometimes you can spend hours writing and nothing particularly comes of it, it's one of the occupational hazards of being a writer and misunderstood genius.

On other days, the words just seem to flow and flow. This is one of those days. In Arclands: The Spellforgers Companion, we created nine city states across the Arclands, the two most powerful being Arc and Dran. We write a lot about Arc but less about its warlike, resentful younger sibling, Dran. The creation of Dran under the rule of Drassa Askar, by the scheming, coup plotting general Nurian Mondrias has been well explored recently, but on the off chance you haven't read about it, check out this lore drop here. Over two millennia later, the city of Dran has developed into a powerful state in its own right and its ruler, Sorias Varren, looks to Ghotharand to be a partner in a planned war in the east. There has been a long tradition of Dranian connections with eastern Aestis. Varren knows that war in the east might result in a catastrophe for Dran, but he repeatedly tells his inner circle that there is "...no catastrophe like the catastrophe of peace, endless, suffocating peace. What man can amount to anything or fulfil his destiny with swords sheathed?"

So he's one of those sorts of people, we've all met them.

Anyway, without further ado, here is our latest lore drop: Sorias Varren and the East.

BTW, if you loved your Spellforgers Companion and you would like to upgrade to hardback, you can order a copy here.
