Often when I'm writing emails, the question 'why would anyone care about that?' comes to mind and the answer, predictably is 'there's no earthly reason, and I probably wouldn't.'

What I want to tell you is that the next Arclands book is busily being written and a lorry load of Books of Graces are being delivered to my doorstep on Saturday so I can post them out to backers and offer some sweet discount here next week.

But that's only vaguely interesting, if even on the mildly dull end of the scale (do you like how I'm deconstructing the art of direct marketing right here btw? If I was in the Magic Circle, I'd totally be kicked out by now).

So how can we make this less tedious?

Let's go back to the first point - A new book is being written.

Now let's make it about you, because let's face it, we're all such narcissists that every email needs to be about us to some degree.

Ok, so a new book is being written and we want to send you bits of it, particularly the games designy bits of it to look at, comment on, tinker with and play.

Sound good? We'll give all our testers a special mention too.

The Book of the Phantasm is set in an alternative reality that has existed for centuries (or millennia in Phantasm time) alongside the Mortal Realm and now the boundaries between Phantasm space and the lands of Aestis are breaking down.

The Phantasm, created by the ancient trickster Onikyass at the dawn of the Sundering will contain new character origins, monsters, new mounts for Dragoons, and an entirely new ability, Intuition, that enables PCs to see through deeper layers of reality. Plus we will be introducing a new style of magic - Mirror Magic from the Mirror World.
