Undertow Publications

Dear Friends,

I hope the year has been good to you all, thus far. In my part of Canada it's very hot today, as the last week of summer begins. Looking forward to Autumn and crisp air, falling leaves, and the season of orange and black.

Our fundraising campaign for Weird Horror magazine has now closed. Thank you all for supporting the campaign. We're pleased to be able to bring you 2 fantastic issues next year. The campaign was scheduled to run until the end of September but I have closed it 2 weeks early. This will help me get a start on fulfillment. I expect to get your perks to you in October and November.

I am very grateful for your support, your kind words, and your interest in Weird Horror and Undertow Publications. Indie presses like ours' only survive and persist because of all of you.

Speaking of Weird Horror, issue 9, just released 2 weeks ago, has received a very favourable review from Locus magazine. Two stories from the issue have made the Recommended Reading list: Seán Padraic Birnie's "Black Water," and Hiron Ennes's "Our Best Selves". You can still get our 2024 eBook bundle (issues 8 and 9) for just $12.

Our October release is the all-Canadian anthology Northern Nights, featuring new stories from Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Premee Mohamed, A.C. Wise, and more. It's received advance praise from the Washington Post, Publishers Weekly, and Booklist. If you are in the Toronto area our official launch is next Saturday, Sept. 21, at Little Ghosts Bookstore and Cafe. Many of the contributors will be on-hand. And if you buy the book, you get a coffee on us. Little Ghosts brews up some great stuff! If you can't make the launch you can still pre-order the book right here:

Undertow will be at the World Fantasy Convention in Niagara Falls, NY, Oct. 17 - 20. Two of our titles — Premee Mohamed's NO ONE WILL COME BACK FOR US, and Tobi Ogundiran's JACKAL, JACKAL are up for a World Fantasy Award. And we will, of course, be slinging our books in the Dealers' Room. We hope to see you! Please come by and say 'Hello.'

And, finally, a general reminder that our eBooks are much more affordable direct from us, and that many are just $3 or $4 dollars.

I am very thankful for your continued support and good graces.

Warm Wishes,

Michael (and the Undertow team)
