Dear Undertow Friends,

Weird Horror magazine is a labor of love. We've published work by Brian Evenson, John Langan, and M. Rickert,. And we've published first-time authors. We publish a variety of voices and perspectives. Fresh, original, vital, and vibrant work that deserves an audience. The magazine has been lauded by Ellen Datlow, and Paula Guran. Stories have been reprinted in The Year's Best Dark Fantasy & Horror; Best British Stories; and Brave New Weird: The Best New Weird Horror.

As I write this, genre magazines Uncanny, Apex, and Strange Horizons are conducting their annual, and always very successful, crowdfunding drives. Weird Horror magazine has never crowdfunded before. In the past, we'd simply use revenue from our book-publishing activities to help fund the magazine.

We now need your help.

We've cut back on the number of book titles we're publishing each year. We're focussing on just one or two books so that we may give them the attention they need to achieve their ultimate success, however you define success in the current publishing landscape.

This means less revenue is coming in. And we are unable to stretch our current limited resources to the magazine. Printing and mailing the magazine is an enormous expense. Next Spring would see publication of issue #10, and I gave serious thought to shuttering the magazine after that issue. 10. It's a nice number. And I'd be happy with that. But when I saw the crowdfunding campaigns of other magazines I thought I'd try to at least get issues #10 AND #11 (2025) pre-funded.

So here we are. Hat in hand. But not completely. Not really. You'll have the opportunity to grab some great perks. And you'll be helping us immensely.

If you can, please help us fund next year's issues of Weird Horror.
