“Days on retreat. Recollection in order to know God, to know yourself and thus to make progress. A necessary time for discovering where and how you should change your life. What should I do? What should I avoid?” (Furrow, no. 175).
👋 Hello!
How are you? I hope everyone in your family is safe!
The past days have been crazy and scary.
Our country has witnessed a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases that led to the declaration of stricter quarantine measures.
Once again, we're like back to square one.
While uncertainties surround us, we remain hopeful, knowing for sure that God is in control; that He'll draw out an abundance of good from this crisis; and that He will always remain by our side.
When the world is full of noise and fear, we can take solace in the silence of our hearts where God speaks to us.
I invite you to take advantage of the Online Holy Week Retreats organized by our priest and laymen friends from different study and cultural centers of Opus Dei, a family that's close to my heart. Its founder, St. Josemaria Escriva, was also one of my inspirations in creating Unboxing Catholicism.
You might ask, "What is a retreat?"
Simply put, it's a "time of quiet reflection and prayer, away from the daily routine, to examine one’s life in the presence of Jesus Christ: to see what is going well, to see what needs to change, to make resolutions and to begin again."
Ever since I returned to the Church, it has been my commitment to go to silent retreats once a year to recollect myself and just be with our Lord. These retreats have been very helpful for me in both the spiritual and professional aspects of my life as an ordinary Christian.
