Ndewo, !
We’re thrilled to share the very first edition of the Umuoma Igbo Weekly Newsletter, our brief and friendly roundup of what’s happening in our journey to Igbo culture mastery!
Each week, we’ll bring you important academy updates, community news, and a little inspiration and tools to help you reinforce learning with our children while staying connected with the Umuoma Igbo family.
Our mission is simple: to make Igbo learning a joyful, everyday experience for every child and family, turning language and cultural values into a living legacy.
When my family relocated years ago, I started noticing something small but painful, my children began losing touch with their Igbo.
When I’d say “Kedu?” they’d reply “Fine.”
When I’d greet “Dalụ,” they’d answer “Thank you.”
And when I engage them, they’d giggle, unsure how to respond.
It hit me one day: if I didn’t act, their generation might never truly know the beauty of their roots.
That turning moment became the seed for our bilingual books and the Umuoma Igbo Academy, a passion that has grown into a global movement helping families like yours bring back our language into our homes
Today, children in our community are greeting, speaking, and singing in Igbo again even on the news-casting stage, and it’s a joy to watch! Here Dabeluchukwu:
This could be your child next, speaking Igbo with confidence and joy!”
