Ndewo ,
During our Kedu Ihe Mere Igbo webinar, a mom in the audience, let’s call her Nne Ifeoma shared a moment that startled everyone.
Her daughter came home from school one day and asked, innocently:
“Mom, why don’t we speak Igbo at home?” She continued:
“My Indian friends speak their language with their parents.
My Spanish friends do too.
Even my African friends speak theirs.
Why can’t we?”
Nne Ifeoma wee kuja! (said she froze)
Not because she didn’t value Igbo.
But because she suddenly realized that nothing had prepared her for that question.
One day, our children will ask probably out of curiosityor due to loss of an opportunity
And in that moment, what will our answer be?
The truth is simple:
If we don’t teach them, beyond language, identity, lineage, and legacy is lost.
That is why Umuoma Igbo Academy is here, for exposure, restoration and legacy for parents who want to start before regret has a voice.
The Academy is already in motion.
Families are practising.
Children are attempting sentences.
Confidence is beginning to grow.
And now, the door is closing.
🕰 Enrollment for this cohort closes this weekend. If this story stirred something in you, don’t ignore it. If you know you don’t want to struggle for words when that question come
come in now.
