A Winning Mindset: Focus on What You Can Control
Nov 01, 2024 10:39 am
Dear Players and Parents,
As we continue to grow together this season, I want to share an essential mental performance insight to help each athlete navigate the ups and downs of the game. Building resilience on the court starts with understanding what we can and cannot control.
3 Things You Can’t Control:
- Parents: Their expectations and feedback are out of your hands.
- Referees: Calls may sometimes feel unfair, but they’re beyond your influence.
- Coaches' Decisions on Playing Time: Playing time will be earned through your effort, but the final decision isn’t yours to make.
4 Things You Can Control:
- Body Language: Keep it positive and focused. A confident stance shows mental strength, even in challenging moments.
- Actions: Put in effort on the court, from smart plays to relentless defense and hustle.
- Energy: Bring your best every time you step onto the court, in practice and in games.
- Attitude: Approach every situation with a resilient, positive mindset.
By directing your focus toward what you can control, you’ll see a boost in both performance and enjoyment of the game. This discipline not only helps you individually but also sets a powerful example for your teammates.
Let’s work together on embracing this approach and transforming our game, one practice at a time. The power is within you!
Tonight we will be holding the Small group session at Apollohal at the small gym space across the enterence there are 9 spots left to fill.
