My favorite kind of homework to give
May 31, 2024 3:53 pm
Hey there, !
This week I got to give my most FAVORITE kind of homework to give TWICE, and really, it should have been 3 times (and more... really, it should have gone everywhere this week, hence, here we are in this email!).
It is an 'assignment' that clients love to get but also love to hate on a little ;).
What it is?
It's to throw themselves a little, tiny party. And by party I mean whatever would feel FUN to them. It's different for everyone and we figure that out together.
For example:
- This week, I have a client who is officially retiring as a teacher, and she'll be full-time in her business (and oh, the people that she will get to help, I canNOT wait!).
Her homework - have a party.
Her party? Staying home, in her pjs, doing NOTHING for as long as she wants next Monday, maybe also with cake for breakfast ;).
- I had a second client who has had a stand out month of May - she's got a new client, scheduled a paid speaking opportunity (her first!), accomplished some BIG life things that had been weighing on her, AND submitted a piece of writing to publish.
Her homework - have a party.
Her party? Time out with a friend, over drinks/a meal, with someone who will be happy to help her celebrate this month.
- I have a third client this week who realized that right now in her business, she's making a) more money than she ever thought possible, especially less than 1 full year after she left teaching, and b) more money than her partner, which she also DID NOT expect to be a thing.
Her homework SHOULD have been have a party (and I'll be fixing that on our next coaching call!).
And I told you before, this is homework my clients love to get but also hate on just a little - because we are NOT used to taking real time to celebrate ourselves, and doing so is often uncomfortable.
Which is why this 'assignment' matters so much.
Because what I know - and you know (logically for sure, but also maybe not emotionally...) - is that when we pay attention to and CELEBRATE our successes, MORE success comes with more ease.
When we focus on the GOOD, more good comes.
Taking the time to celebrate - very intentionally - is a way to focus our brains on all of the things that ARE working in our businesses and lives.
Seeing the good turns down the volume on all the biggest time-eaters --- doubt, questioning, worry, uncertainty, and all their friends.
And when those time eaters are quieter, we accomplish more, more quickly, and create MORE good to celebrate (#virtuouscycle)!
So, for you, today?
You've got homework too.
Maybe you're not retiring this week. Maybe you didn't have a banner May. Maybe you didn't start out-earning your partner. That's okay, me neither.
And yet? There IS good to celebrate, and you and your work ARE worth the time it would take to have a little tiny party and soak that good IN.
Ask yourself: what do I want to celebrate? And HOW do I want to celebrate?
For me, today, I'm celebrating all of the work I needed to do for The Offer Game starting next week in my FB group already being DONE, the 7 new connections I made in May, the 25+ (!) connections I created for other people this month, AND the 30 new people I've invited into my FB group since the start of April. That's a TON of good (plus all of the help I've been able to give to other people!!!).
And I'm celebrating by taking the afternoon off - by myself, without my kids, without an agenda, and without any guilt. :)
What about YOU?
If you want to share what you're celebrating and how, hit reply (I'd LOVE to hear it and celebrate you too!).
Happy Friday, friend, and happy CELEBRATING!!
Much love,
Sara
PS. The Offer Game starts MONDAY 6/3 in the FB group. It's all set up and ready to go and IT'S GOING TO BE SO FUN, come play!
Also, if you're looking for the kind of growth the 3 clients in this email have going --- new clients, new work-life set ups, more income, more impact --- come to coaching. Set up a time to talk about it here, it really does make a difference.
