My guess is that we all have that one friend (that we know from FB probably) who is absolutely killing it in their business.

Maybe you know them well, and in real life, or maybe they're connection over the internet and you've been connected for a while, but either way you probably have SOMEONE where you think 'crap, how is she DOING it? And what the heck am I doing wrong?'

I have this friend too.

She quit her full-time job in December 2021 to go full-time into her business, and earlier this week she shared she's already made $100K.

$100K in LESS than 90 days.

My brain was like 'Um. What the what???'

First, I'm thrilled for her, she's amazing. The thought is 'YOU GO GIRL, get it!'

And second? I'm jealous. The thought is 'what am I doing wrong?' and 'what's she doing that I'm not?'

Which feels AWFUL.

Because the whole 'compare and despair' thing feels AWFUL in general.

After my friend shared this earlier in the week I sat down and thought about it for a while. I even busted out my journal.

I asked myself, 'Really, what IS she doing that I'm not? What's different?'

And I saw 2 VITAL things.

#1. She is WILDLY public about damn near everything as far as I can tell. THAT is what she coaches people to become, and I am not that (and I don't WANT to be that). She gets kudos for bravery, but also, holy hell, I don't ever want that level of public sharing to be my norm.

#2. She's heavily (and I mean heavily) investing in herself. I know her, I know the programs she's in, and I know that means that in the last 6-12 months she's spent AT LEAST $50K on coaching, and MOST of that was before December of 2021. This has made ALL the difference.

And so for me there were two takeaways.

First, I do NOT want her level of visibility, but I can continue to be brave and out there in MY way, more and more.

If she can be THAT visible about all the things all the time, then it's safe for me to do my version of more.

Second, she didn't create her result in a vacuum. She's a solopreneur, she is the only person in her business, and also she is DECIDELY and INTENTIONALLY NOT alone at all.

It's a reminder that when people have what seems like wild, out of the norm success, there is always more to it.

NO ONE - and I do mean no one - that achieves 'crazy' levels of success is in it alone.

They ALL invest in themselves, they all have support, they all have other people to help them out of their own way.

For me, this is the reason I invest in coaching for ME as I grow my business. This year I will spend at least $12K, and probably more.

It's also the reason I STARTED to invest in myself way back when.

When I hired my first coach I paid $6K before I had made even $1 in my business.

Because I knew the upfront investment would pay off - and it did. I made 10x that that year. And I expect to make at least 10x my investment THIS year.

In invest because it works. Nothing more, nothing less.

And for you?

The takeaways can be same.

More visibility is safe. You get to do it on your terms, for sure, but stretching yourself OUT THERE more DOES create more business.

More visibility = more income.

And?

Investing in yourself and your business works. It's scary as hell to take the leap and PAY for coaching. It's scary as hell to pay money to someone that you may not have (yet), but it IS a HUGE part of creating the growth you want.

More investment = MORE growth.

You get to choose how you get visible AND how you invest in yourself.

But if you WANT the growth, both are necessary.

Ask yourself:

#1. What am I doing to become MORE visible?

#2 What am I doing to INVEST in myself and my business? How am I investing in who I want to BECOME?

And then maybe you'll be the one your friends look at and think 'How the hell did she do THAT?'
