If success was an illness, failure would be a symptom

Dear ,
Here's a big 'what if...?' for you:
What if failure is a SYMPTOM of success?
Seriously.
What if we decided to interpret failing - and in all it's not-so-glorious-feeling forms - as a sign that we were growing MORE successful, instead of a sign of the apocalypse?
What then?
What would you have permission to do, think, be, try, feel, if we chose to interpret things going wrong as an indicator that things are really going RIGHT?
For example...
In my business, I celebrate the unsubscribe.
I love (love) having you on my email list.
And I also love when people know that I'm NOT for them, and decide to leave.
An unsubscribe is a failure, sure - a failure to connect, a failure to be relevant, a failure to be compelling... but it's also a sign that I'm GROWING clear enough in what I'm sharing and saying that people take the time to opt out rather than just ignore me.
Which IS success.
The question for you is this:
If failure is a SYMPTOM of success, what will the actual symptoms be, for YOU?
And if you exhibit the symptoms of failing - maybe people unsubscribe, maybe they say no, maybe they write mean things about you on FB, maybe you don't make any money in a month - what would it mean to TRUST that they are actually you, on your way to success?
What would it meant to trust that the day to day fails are a symptom that leads to a diagnosis of long-term success?
[maybe everything...]
And as you mull over this big meaty question of success and it's relationship to failure, I have a few quick things to share:
- This week's episode of the Teacher's in Business podcast is the 4 most common misconceptions that I hear from new-ish entrepreneurs (esp. the teachers). These are DEFINITELY things you've heard in your head, and this episode is permission to skip these 4 specific drama spirals ENTIRELY. You can listen here.
- Tomorrow I'm re-hosting UNcomplicated Selling (by popular demand!), live, in Teachers in Business the FB group. If you missed it the first time, it's worth showing up for - this 45 minutes will entirely change how you think about selling - in a good way, and that's NOT going to be bad for your business in any way. We're kicking off at 12:30 pm EST.
- At the end of May I'm following up UNcomplicated Selling with the next 'step' in the series, which is UNcomplicated TIME. If you feel like the squirrels are driving the bus in your brain, like maniacs, this will be for YOU. It's going to be a mini-email course, but the emails will only go out to people who sign up! Grab the details and sign up here.
Last, and very much not least, the next round of Charting Business Success is OPEN for enrollment.
If you want to:
- simplify showing up
- simplify getting more visible
- simplify consistency

we do all of that in 16 weeks. In each and every instance of this group so far - 3, 16 week rounds - each and every person got what they came for AND more.
The results are real. The change is real. The growth is real.
And it's available to you too.
