You think I'm lying?

First name,

What does the date on your calendar read?

Can't remember? Okay, you have a minute to check it out and come tell me.

Silence.

Done?

Now tell me, what does the date on your calendar read?

You will agree with me that, today is the 15th day in April 2023

And just like that, 4 months will be done and dusted with.

Lol, a lady that got pregnant during August will be planning to have her baby in her arms this month.

And a lady that did the deed in February and it hit the goal will be 2 months gone by now.

You know, it's funny how we often set goals for ourselves at the beginning of the year because setting a goal is one of the important things to we humans

And we do this not to show people that we know how to set goals or we are the best at setting them,

Rather,

We set these goals because we all have things we would love to achieve in life

*A life that can cater for our needs and families

*A daily routine that can always remind us to get to work and get some things done

*A well respected reality that people can come to say one or two about them

Blah! Blah! Blah! Blah!

But truth be told,

Majority of us have forgotten about our yearly and monthly goals…

You think I'm lying?

Okay! Let's try considering this, "How many of us are still actually following through with said goals?"

Life gets busy, we get sidetracked, and before we know it, another year has gone by without achieving what we set out to do.

No, I'm not calling out anyone, I'm part of this as well

While meditating about this goal of a thing, I came to this realization that;

Sometimes people eagerly start on their goals and make sure to achieve them.

Sometimes they start but don't complete them (think of New Year's Resolution, January gym memberships, etc.)

And sometimes people just don't start, even when they say it's important to them.

Why?

Is it because they don't want to?

Or because they are mainly tired of living and don't want to get it done?

No! I doubt that's the reason.

For me, I think the reason why we don't actively achieve our goals every now and then is because…

"We really don't notice what happens when we are achieving our goals and when we are not."

What do I mean?

When you achieve a certain goal, do you ask yourself these questions?

"How do you feel? How do you react? Do you want to continue to get the goal going or you just want to be done with it and relax for another 77 hours?"

And this is where "personal effectiveness comes into the picture"

Personal effectiveness helps us to know what really happens when goals have been achieved.

Now to increase your very own personal effectiveness, notice what happens when you are achieving your goals and when you are not.

And how can you keep this in check; "Whenever you want to maintain your motivation over the long term, visualize what you want in front of yourself"

Example: Let's say you need to get into a very healthy eating pattern that will make you lose or gain weight and you've not been doing what you're expected to do…

To achieve this goal by putting in personal effectiveness,

Try seeing an image of yourself getting into the required shape, feel the attraction of that image and draw towards it.

If yours is that you eagerly start on a project and goal but you tend to lose interest after a while…

Ask yourself what negative consequences you will face if you don't complete that particular goal or project.

This is where setting deadlines might work best.

Now there will be a problem if you read these things and you don't implement.

Why? Because you will forget these things very soon if you don't put them to practice.

Capiche? Good.

I have to run now. See ya on Monday.
