Faith & Life Lessons - November 26, 2023

image

Welcome to the November 26th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.

You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week

One of the highlights for me this week is embracing the disorder that happens before what God has promised comes to life.

Yes, I am going through some disorder which I see as God's way of keeping His promise.

He is working through the disorder to create the future He has predetermined for me.

My spiritual director called my attention to this the last time I met with him.

He used a personal story to explain it.

When he married, God told him that his wife was going to be someone who writes books and speaks across the world.

As things turned out, he and his wife had an accident where she died.

He remarried and his current wife is doing exactly that. She is the author of many books and an international speaker.

I got connected to him when she came to speak at our church in Barcelona.

The word God gave him has lived it out differently.

He went through the pain of an accident and the loss of his first wife before coming to see the fulfilment of the Word.

I am learning to embrace the disorder and not blame the people I meet amid the disorder.

God is at work in everything.

Even in the disorder.

Things I Learnt

1-Keep Record of Your God Walk: On Friday morning during my devotions, God told me a couple of things to give me a better perspective about the current season of life I am in.

I have a dedicated place where I write things like this.

I opened the note to write the latest one and discovered something.

I had written entries in months past that foretold what I am going through - entries in July & September.

The only thing is that they didn't foretell the rollercoaster of emotions and challenges that I would have to go through.

That was what the latest entry was addressing.

I guess even if I got it earlier, it would not have brought as much comfort as getting it while I am in the season.

No matter the pain - God is still at work in everything.

God is working out His purpose in my life according to the full counsel of His Will.

Q.E.D.

2-The Value of Living a Life of Values: During my call with my practice coach, we discussed a particular situation that I had gone through.

Based on my core values, I had made significant personal sacrifice which was not reciprocated by the other side.

It hurt.

But I told my coach, if I had to do it again, I would live exactly that way again.

My coach said he was glad to hear that - he had thought he would have to explain to me that living by one's values is the reward not how people respond.

Yep. Living according to my values is how I remain congruent with who I am.

It doesn't matter how people respond - I will continue to sacrifice as long as those sacrifices align with my highest values.

Even if the other side is living in "La–la land".

I live & win by my highest values.

Postscript

May you live to your highest values and under the weight of false expectations. Amen.
