Welcome to the July 17th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week
Today was the special service of songs for a fellow Christian.
We had served together as trustees on the board of a teen-focused Christian NGO.
I consider him to be a senior in certain matters of the faith.
One of the things that caught me off guard during our earlier days of serving on the board was the questions he would ask.
The questions were a call back to a time gone by.
When we were about to make a decision, he would ask if there was a scriptural basis or if we could find the scriptural basis for it.
This type of questioning was the stuff of things that started my faith journey and it had become a part of me that I wasn’t conscious of the question.
He didn’t ask it because he was just been pedantic. He asked it because God’s Word was primal to him.
It was great to serve with him and his place will be missed.
God knows why he had to be called at a time when we thought he still had much to do.
He lived well.
He lived life to honor God.
And that is all that anyone can ask.
Rest well, Dr Kunle Akinyemi-Doro.
Things I Learnt
1-Protect Priority of Family: Amid all celebrations of the life of the Christian brother that passed on, something struck me.
The only place he is completely irreplaceable is in his family.
It was heartwarming to hear people talk about how He protected his family space.
It’s the memories and legacy that he created that will carry the family on.
It’s situations like these that further reaffirm why I have chosen to make some simple life choices to protect my family space.
And I make those choices anew every day.
I want to be fully present for the people that will miss me the most every time I am with them.
It’s my gift to them every time.
2-Learning From Questions: I had to present a project for approval with the board committee of my company.
I got the project approved.
But the thrill of the whole process was not the approval. It was the questioning.
The external members of the committee asked tough questions and layered more learning into my responses.
There is nothing like when a questioning session becomes a learning experience.
And it was for both parties.
They said it gave them a better grasp of the business I was leading while they gave me a fresh perspective from the experiences they have had from working in other countries.
Good questions are great learnings.
As I experienced.
Postscript
May you see situations that question what you are doing as learning experiences for you to become better. Amen
