Welcome to the February 11th edition of Faith & Life Lessons.
You will see this email full of tidbits from my week. My goal is simple. I hope that from how I live my life, you can find a thing or two that helps you as you try to live a life that matters. I am always trying to do one thing - make Christ-focused decisions in love, work, and life. And this was my week.

The Story of My Week
Someone asked me if I was feeling stressed during the week.
Why?
Because I took on an additional workload based on the new role I have.
My response?
I am not stressfully overwhelmed.
It is impossible to expect that a new role will not come with a new level of stress.
And it requires a unique approach to ensure it does not overwhelm.
One of the foundations of how I work is this “I never compete with the people who work with me.”
If I can do something at a quality level of 80% while those who work with me can do it at a quality level of 60%.
I will not take over the task. Rather, I will keep them do it at 60% quality supported with training by me to get them to 95% quality.
But they will be the ones to do the task.
It ensures that I don’t take their workload to mine.
I just help them deliver their workload better.
I am still doing that now.
That’s why I am not stressfully overwhelmed.
Things I Learnt
1 - Better Communication: During the week, I had two people independently compliment me on how well I communicate.
Well, living in countries where people don’t speak English as their first language is part of the reason.
Speaking in English to people who think in another language means I have to remove nuances and keep the conversation simple, focused and yet still engaging.
From training that communication muscle with non-English first-language speakers, I have improved my ability to communicate better with English first-language speakers.
I am still stretching that communication muscle.
Why?
Because the variety of sub-groups and sub-classes of people will require variation to ensure that each group receives information in a way that aligns with their worldview.
Gen Z denizens are different compared to Generation X - mastery is required to ensure that I can communicate at the same time in a way that connects to multiple sub-groups.
I’m not resting.
I’ll keep making that communication muscle stronger & fitter.
2-God’s Important Priority: I was doing a review of some of the things I have had to go through in the more recent past.
Some of them have required a higher level of faith and emotional and financial investment.
The interesting thing is that I am now in a season where some of the things I achieved will be of little significance going forward.
The whole event has reaffirmed that God’s overarching desire is for my faith in Him to grow.
The growth of my faith in Him is not measured by what I get.
Rather, it is measured by my willingness to follow Him into new paths unknown.
Yes, the growth of my faith shows itself more in the freedom I have to trust in Him enough to give up “Isaac” if that is what is required.
Postscript
May your faith in God grow enough so that you are willing to give up anything to take whatever next step He asks you to. Amen.
